I went shopping recently and got a real shock. I have been work for years to loose weight. I recently had a big drop in size and change weight. Now, last year when I went to the store size 26-28 was Listed As 3X. A couple months ago Wal-Mart started advertising that they now carry up to 4X! Wow I thought, now that's a good thing, I'll let everyone I know who is looking for that size. THEN I go in and find out that all they have done is MOVE the SAME SIZE UP AN 'X'. So I've lost enough weight to go from what was a 3X to a 2X - Now, because of the change I'm still wearing a 3X! Not only is this disheartening its annoying in the extreme. Its bad enough that the people who make the clothes Don't Take a real person in to account when they 'scale up the sizes' (freakin' sleeves are so tight your arms feel like they are in sausage casings - or you can't get your arm through the arm hole - I routinely have to buy 'up' because of sleeves) or they put a Stick Straight Skirt with a jacket obviously made for a woman of Size. Suits are impossible - apparently if you are over a certain waist size your bosom should be ENORMOUS! I am NOT AMUSED!

We are taking about waist line, right? Well it is really shocking to hear that 26-28 is XXXX. I thought 26 is the sexy waist line for a girl. I can't believe this. So what's the size of a small waist line, or medium. I think clothes manufacturer are encouraging people in your place to be anorexic or to have some sort of eating disorder.

She's talking about shirt size not waist line. A 26 is equal to about a 44 to 46 inches for the bust.

Right but with waist at a 26 it's not 26 inches is what I was trying to say. Not sure what it is off hand for that size but I know at 22 it's around 38 inches or so (I think) been a while since I've gotten out the tape measurer.

The way the sizes are done is The Same for pants/skirts and blouses on the tags They don't split the sizes up by Tops or Bottoms in those clothing lines or in that size range

Walmart is the worst for sizes! I wear 18-20 in most every other clothing line unless i go to walmart then is it up to a 26!!! So dont let it freak you out too much! Try onestopplus.com. Much more realistic and they have fantastic bargains in their clearance!!! Just got 4 pair of pants for 5.88 each!!! GREAT BARGAIN!!!

Irritating isn't it? I remember when a 1X was a 20-22 but then they jumped that up. Of course at that time a large was a 18-20 and now if you are lucky a large is a 14. They did this back a few years ago as well, made all the sizes smaller. If you go though and look at patterns for making your own clothes they still go by the old sizing that I grew up with, which is very different from the ones they use in the stores now. I don't know why they do this either. All it does is make women feel worse about their figure. See I have the opposite problem with suits. If I get it to fit my bust they figure I must be huge below as well. Most two pieces the bottom is one to two times too big for me when the top fits right. I have the same problem with sleeves as well though. Most often I have to buy up a size because of that. Or what irritates me is the material. They will use this material that clings and almost adhears to you so you have to go up three sizes to get it to fit right. I get upset really quick when I'm shopping for clothes. Then add to it you go from a 1x to a 2x and they jump the price two or three dollars. They don't make the junior clothes cheaper by that much so why do they raise it for larger sizes? That bugs me to no end. Why should I pay more for something that isn't that much differnce in size especially since they don't reduce clothing for those who wear below a size 8? Ugh..just something that bugs me and I will rant all night on it sometimes.

Lane Bryant starts at size 14 as well and size 14 is the most average size for women. That should tell them something don't you think? I agree clingy clothes on plus size women just does not work. I get very irritated when I go to look at clothes and all they have are skinny clothes made bigger. It just doesn't work that way, not really. Our lines are all different and what looks good on someone in a size 3 does not neccessarily look good on someone that is a size 16. I used to do a lot of sewing and I'm starting to think I may have to go back to it as well. Might be less frustrating.

According to the clothing store Catherines Plus Size starts at 14 - sigh Goddess Help Me - Clingy Fabric on Large People is Just Wrong! suits - gads, if the jacket fits the 'body' then I can't get my arms in the sleeves and the skirt is a sausage casing if the sleeves fit, then the body bags I'm going to have to go back to sewing it all again - sigh - grrrrr - I don't mind sewing, and I'm actually Very Good At It - but its still a pain in the patoot!
