(I just read these on a news website and did a teensy bit of research, I do not claim to be an expert on any of these things)
The act of kissing another person releases the same hormone in your body as the act of firing a gun does (oxytocin). It also simulates the same feeling people get when parachuting and bungee jumping.
This hormone is responsible for calming the brain and heightening sensitivity -- making it seem like a realitive of adrenaline -- this hormone is usually released AFTER endorphins -- which we all know are responsible for the feel-good feeling of love. Endorphins and phenylethylamine are also in chocolate -- which simply mimics the feeling of love, chocolate also contains Anandamide which binds the same receptors in the brain as marijuana, hence the feeling of happiness. Endorphins are necessary for a person to stay healthy. Endorphins are also pain-relievers. It's why pressed teens who cut get addicted, the body naturally releases endorphins and it temporarily relieves a bit of their depression. Ergo their pain. Athletes, especially runners, frequently release endorphins into their system during their workouts.
Kissing improves one's skin, can relieve headaches and stress..kissing can also burn calories.
Infants which are kissed usually have a greater capacity for intamicy later in life.
In Conneticut you can't kiss your wife on Sunday --it's against the law (similiar to the law there about walking backwards after sunset).
The Chinese I think, didn't kiss before they saw Westerners kissing.
There's a certain species of monkey which will kiss one another to relieve anxiety and stress.
In Ancient Egypt, touching noses was a type of kissing -- one of the most intimate kind of greeting couples could express.
Interesting, hm? ^_^ Do you guys have any other little-known or talked about facts within this subject?

Netscape news, it was a long article, I just took what I found most interesting or didn't know about and put it here -- after doing a bit of my own research on it.
I don't have a link to the article anymore, though, sadly.

Hi, I don't think I can add anything to your discussion about kissing, although I did enjoy reading what you had put! I quite like the Conneticut law that you can't kiss your wife on a Sunday lol! Thanks for this information!

well, i dont know. All i know is that kissing is something nice and wonderful. I mean the feeling that involves in it. Especially when youre kissing the person you really love. It feels like you dont get tired and you dont want that kiss to end. it's a happy and good feel. Well that's for me.
