Do you participate in a discussion that has already got a Best Response?

You are looking for a discussion of your choice and happen to find one, only to see that the person has already selected a best response. Do you still go ahead and put down your views? If not is it because you post only in the hope of getting a best response or because you feel that there is no point in posting as the person has got the answer he/she wanted?

I still post I think some people pick the best response too early, I wait until there are at least 10 responses to a discussion before I pick the best response, even if it takes weeks. I don't just respond to get a best response I respond to subjects I have something to say about.

Yes i feel that too.. However i guess it depends on the type of discussion. In some discussions, the person originally posting may be looking for a specific answer and when he/she gets it ..doesnt wait for any more. In the other discussions which call for the opinion of a person, it goes on (or rather should go on) longer, where most of the interested people have put in their thoughts..

I wait 4 months before posting a best response unless I have more than 25 responses already.

Pardon my mistake, I meant 4 WEEKS.

I never use "best response" as a determination of whether or not I will participate in a discussion. In fact, many times, I don't even notice if one has been chosen. I don't look for that. I'm interested in all the responses and viewpoints. If I find the discussion interesting, and if I feel I have something I can contribute, then I will absolutely post, regardless of whether or not a best response has already been selected.

I do reply to a discussion regardless if it has a best response chosen or not. I think it is all about to the best of your abilty, and even if it has been chosen, that doesn't mean I may not have something to say! It is always nice though, to be recognized with being given the best response. It shows that I do give it a good try andothers do appreciate my time.

Deppends, if i like the subject and have something to say that hasn't been already said, i will add my answer, regardless if that discussion has a Best response or not.

I do that in most of the cases too unless it seems that my reply may not even be read..

of course i still respond to their discussions..actually i dont need that "best response" mark..i just wanted to somehow express my views and be responded as well..that is what i really like about mylot..the freedom to exchange thoughts to other people through posts and responses!

Mylot is certainly good for that..

If i find a interesting discussion i would like to respond to then it really doesn't matter to me whether it has bee resolved or not as the person has already selected the best response. As i would like to read other posts about it and put my views across as i feel i can still make meaningful contribution to the discussion. Besides the more we post, the better it is earnings wise too. Cheers folks. :)

Yeah i agree with you that we should wait for reasonable time before awarding a best response as you may just lose out on picking a really best response that was posted afterwards. So we shouldn't be in too hurry when selecting a best response. Happy posting.:)

I guess thats what makes a discussion more meaningful and rich...However i do feel that people should not make haste in awarding the best response

My guess is that almost everyone has done that at one time or another. I have only because the subject was intriguing and I overlooked the fact best answer was picked. I do not do it intentionally. While I suppose some people would come back to see what has been going on after they pick best answer but I can't think it many. So I move on. I agree with one of your answers, I think some people pick best answer way to early. Some of the best answers can come much later.

Perhaps it would be better if mylot puts a 1-2 week constraint on awarding the best response....

Yes, specially if my idea is different, I'm trying to give the post starter a different view of his topic. Not all people have the same perspectives. I'm giving him another angle of his discussion. I don't really care about best responses.

As iv said it before...if you have something really good and different to say.. nothing should stop you from doing that

I will respond to the discussion even if it has got the best response already. We should participate in discussions. That spirit must be there.

I dont mind to post for a topic where already best response was choosen.I just post my views and opinions for the topic if i wish to write. We can note some responses are selected best and offcourse they will be best, immediately within 1 day the topic was opened.I feel we should go about not considering best responses and share ours.

Quite true, though i still feel that people should wait a bit longer in deciding the best response

Usually I dont take part...I feels that most of us once selected a best response never comes back to those discussions and the responses for them..So no point in putting in a response for that furthur...You not going to get rated for that and noone is going to read it...So useless...Thats what I feel. But if its a good discussion, just put a response..It will take only 2 mts of your time but still remember that least likely someone going to read it...

I know what you feel, however its quite possible that somebody may read your discussion. If i get a response to a discussion for which iv already selected a best response (Its never happened though), i will surely read it..Perhaps it would have been better if the best responses could be changed..perhaps that would help keeping the discussions alive much longer

Sure, why not. I'm not really after being chosen as having the best response, but what i'm after for is responding to the topic that the person has started. I don't invent things just so my post will be marked the best response, lol, that would be too "not me". I just respond because i'm interested in the person's topic and I just wanted to share my personal opinion and whatever's on my mind ;)

I do think ppl should be themselves atleast when they post in here..Many people change when interacting with new people or debating..however, thats whats great about mylot that you can be totally yourself here...

Well I have given responses to many discussions where the best reponse has already been choosen, or are months old.If I realy like the topic then I just feel like responding as it just comes from inside and I cannot resist responding. Though you are right that the person who started the discussion might not visit and read the response but still others can read it and it is also for my own satisfaction.I feel quite satisfied after giving a response which I feel is good. But still, my response being selected as the best response gives a great feeling, asif I have got a reward. Therefore if the topic of the discussion, where best response has been selected, is really tempting then only I give response.

Ya.. the feeling that you get when ur reponse has been given the best response is great..Especially when there have been many responses...So posting in a discussion where you are sure NOT to get that reward may not be really tempting..but yes...if its a discussion in which you really feel like participating..well nothing can stop you. And you're right.. its not just the person who started it.. its all the people who participated in it.

I never let the fact that a best response has been posted keep me from answering a post. The poster might have felt no one else would answer, so they were being responsible and rewarding by giving the best response. Also, some new mylotters seem to give the BR in a matter of hours. Pehaps the poster still wants responses, but just thinks this is the way to go about things. Besides, we don't get money for best responses, we get it for posting.

Thats quite true..When do you decide to finally award a best response..maybe after a week or so of inactivity?? But its quite possible that someone may come across it after that too.... Yup..we get the money for the best responses..we are here to discuss and/or to earn money..not for the best responses..they are nice rewards..but i guess they shouldnt stop you from the main reason you are here.

I read every one of my responses, even after I have given a best response. From answering other people's posts, I know they do that as well.
