Can a child think and act as an adult? if given the same treatment and environment as an adult? Somehow people beleive that children are more capable of adult behaviour than modern society give them credit. if you look at the past, children at young age as 5 & 6 were fully capable of caring for their younger siblings, cooking dinner, and running the house after their mother's died. And kids at 13 were also perfectly capable of starting their wn families and being responsible. To me children at this ages are not mentally capable of behaving as adults is totally a myth. children behaviour is caused by encouragement and aceptance of that behaviour from the surroundings adult. what's your opinion about this?

I think that it all depends on the mental maturity of the child. If a child is burdened with responsibilities at a young age, that becomes his/her life in that case. Then all he/she knows is to act like an adult. They really donot get to be children.By entrusting them with responsibilities and letting them grow up as adults instead of as children,we are in effect, robbing them of their childhood.Yes,kids do understand a lot more than we really give them credit for.But it must be remembered that experience makes a child more mature.hence,a child who at 5 is able to fully look after siblings, cook dinner, etc will no doubt be mature enough to start a family at 13.No dount then that atmosphere plays an important role in moulding a child. But tob e a complete human being,it is necessary that the child goes through experiences as a child and do things as a child rather than as an adult.

It is true that years ago children acted or had more responsibilities then they do today but in these accounts it doesn't list all the accidents that happened because of children being too young and trying to take care of thier siblings or accidents that were resulted because of children using the stove at too early of an age . I believe children have to grow and have to have time to be a child . I believe by expecting too much from a child you are encouraging them to grow up to fast and this is just expecting too much from them . I don't believe that they are capable of preforming all that an adult can as they don't have the years of experience of even the knowledge of what could happen .

children - Children mimicking adults.
Children can only imitate adults, as their observations are very sharp. Taking responsibilities as an adult comes only with growth and experience. Some kids may have better intelligence and may cope up as adults, but that is only a very small percentage. Overall kids are kids only.
