third world country?

Why did they call countries with a low Gross national product or Income a third world country? Isn't that discriminating on the part of the people living in what they call third world country? I think for the sake of terminologies, they have used these words "third world country," but I believe there is no such as third world people. we are all EQUAL, what ever origins we may have been. we are all humans. Lets not look at ourselves better or greater than others. we all have abilities and capabilities to do what one can do. I Just hope that we treat all nationality equally. Lets help and be united with one another, what ever nation we belong. World Peace!
