I was browsing an online store and looked at a Motorola Razr V3i Mobile cell

phone. It was a wholesale store. The original list price was $499.99 and their price was $256.24! Do people actually pay that kind of money for a cell phone?

The v3i is about 200 euro here in Ireland. I work in a mobile phone shop and you would be surprised at how much people will pay for a phone, such as the nokia 8800 which is retailing at about 800 euro at the moment. Thats apporx $850/$900. You can also purchase the Nokia Vertu phone which starts at $20,000.

What! Wow! I suppose you see a lot of celebrities come in to buy phones! Who else could afford the Nokia Vertu?

I just got my Motorola Razr v3m phone yesterday and am enjoying it so far. It is obviously different than the model you mentioned but the Razr phone is nice and it is very light. I almost do not know I am carrying with me. I did not have to pay for mine due to being on Verizon Wireless two year plan. I would not pay for a cell phone that was more than $200.

Yeah, some do and still they pay more per month than I do with my landline. That is no draw for me to buy a cell phone. The price has to make it worth my while to get one of those inky dinky phones. If I would get one I would pre pay my minutes and not ring up big bills with text messageing and those stupid games they have on them. Good luck if you choose to enter into this world of portable phones.

Oh yes they do lol. I wouldn't though. I have Sprint pcs, and every year I get a credit for a free phone. I can use the whole thing and get their cheaper model-which is usually just perfect for me-I don't need internet access, cameras, etc. Or I can use the credit towards a more expensive phone and just pay the difference. I usually change phones out every 2 years or so, unless like my current phone, I mess it up by spilling a drink on it :) Actually it's still working ok. Nice to know though that I can get a free one though.

I have never spent more than £6 (roughly $12) on a mobile phone .. it does everything I want it to do .. it's neat, slim and attractive and it didn't break the bank .. so why on earth would anyone want to spend that much on something that is more or less the same as my £6 mobile ??

Hello Esther :) yes it's crazy but i have a few crazy friends who buy such expensive models and keep selling them for great loss and buying new ones :( they are not even that rich, just crazy about new cell phones, it's just a waste of money and it's sad when people who buy it are in need for the money for more important things.

I know people do pay that much but not this girl..lol I'm on Verizon's Two Year plan so I get a new phone free every two years. I've been looking at them the past week since I'm over due for a new one. I don't use a lot of features. I take pics once in a while and then just make and receive calls so I don't need all the extras.

Not this lady! I could care less if my cell phone can take pictures or play catchy tunes. I wait until my current phone is unusable or the cell phone company has a free phone offer. I don't leave the house much though and my cell phone is not a very important part of my life.

Believe it or not, people will pay for a cell phone that has multiple amounts of cool features on them. They would not pay that much for a simple cell phone with few features. I would not pay that much for a cell phone unless I was rich and could afford it. I keep upgrading my cell phone every two years on my plan and will do so this summer and hope to get one with bluetooth capability. I have not seen that phone you mentioned but I am sure it is very sharp for that amount.

In my country, people will pay even 10 times than that. All for the glory of owning the latest, most sleek cellular phone in the market. I'm not one of those people, though LOL I don't mind bringing a very "ordinary" phone. As long as it's working fine, that's good enough for me.

I talked to my daughter, she has a Motorola Lazar a pink one and she said she paid about that for hers and yes she said when she bought it they had just come out and they were 500.00 she had to sign a two year contract and still had to pay about 250 dollars. My phone is just a cheap one, but it works well.

Yeah if they want that type of phone will all the features they will prolly never use. I'm signed up for new every 2 so I get a new phone every 2 years. I always choose the free ones cause I don't need all the features that the more expensive phones offer.

It is very sad, but yes, people will spend that kind of money on cell phones. Especially teenagers. They like to buy the newest phones as they come out. It is like a statis thing. Heaven forbid they have a phone that doesn't connect to the web! I think it is rediculous.

Wow! I can't believe people actually pay that much for phones. I think the most I've ever paid for a phone is like $50. I always try to go for the cheaper ones. I hate talking on the phone anyways so I normally just use my cell phone for when I'm out and there's an emergency.
