I take a bath. She sleeps in the tub sometimes. She scratches around the bottom before she finally settles down. She licks the side of the tub after I let the water out. The other night she was chasing her tail in the tub at 2 AM and I had to kick her out so I could sleep. Two days in a row when I have been taking a bath, she has slipped off the edge and fallen into the water with me. That wasn't pleasant... Does anyone else's cat have a weird obcession with the tub?

My cat likes the tub, too. She doesn't drink from her water dish; she prefers bathtub water. Any time anyone's going into the bathroom, she races in there and hops into the tub. If you don't give her any water, she'll sit there and stare at you until you do. It's a little creepy. lol She likes chasing her tail in there, too, and she'll attack the side if she catches her reflection in it.

My cat does the same. Or if I'm brushing my teeth she will jump up on the counter to lick the sink and I have to move her out of the way so I can rinse my mouth.

Two of our four cats are fascinated with the shower. Initially both (not at the same time) would actually jump up onto the top of the shower screen and sit their for the entire duration of the shower. One would jump up with ease, the other was a bit wobbly and actually once didn't make the edge and came flying over. Not the best experience there. They both seem to have moved on from that phase. One of them will still come for a visit though and will bang on the shower screen for us to open the door up and let him have a look in. He'll just stand there, two paws on the floor the other two on the edge of the shower, sometimes until we turn off the shower. One of our previous kitties were absolutely obsessed with water, and as soon as he heard a tap running we would come charging along, no matter where the tap was he'd have to have a play with the water. He'd literally be at the kitchen sink or bathroom while we were trying to do something, with his paw in the water flicking it all over the place. If we left the shower screen open, we'd often find him just sitting there for absolutely no reason, in the water that just sits their due a dip in bath.

That is hilarious! I actually laughed out loud (and got some weird looks in the school library). I'm picturing a kitty coming over the top of the shower and both of you being surprised - the look of panic on both your faces...

My sister has two cats and the younger one LOVES fresh bath water... when they fill the tub, she stands on the edge and bends down to drink. My sister kept saying "One day, she's going to fall in." Well, she called me from work the other day to say that, sure enough, when my brother-in-law was filling the tub for an early morning bath, they heard a loud bang and a big ruckus. Then, out of the bathroom shoots the cat, soaking wet and majorly ticked off LOL My brother-in-law grabbed a towel and went running after her, yelling "MAN! The hall carpet is REALLY wet!!" LOL She went allllll the way into the water, for sure. When he caught up to her, she was already starting to clean herself. I bet she was thinking, "It's going to take ALL DAY to get all this off!!!!!!!!" hee hee

That's funny! We have that experience often. I tried to blow dry her once and she freaked out! She started smacking the blow dryer and hissing. I just use towels now, but she usually soaks through a couple of them.

My cat loves the bathtub and potty both. She has just figured out how to lay on the back of the toilet and flush it. So she does it ALL the time. Even when the lid is closed and she can't see what is going on, she still does it and then meows loudly at it. I guess because she wants to see? I'm not sure. She also has a habit of laying on the side of the tub when I'm filling it up for my son. I'm not sure why, but bathtimes seem to be a family affair at our house. We have a tiny bathroom, but both dogs and the cat usually come in when I give my son a bath. The cat has got knocked into the water more than once by one of the dogs! She freaks out, but then she comes right back the very next day.

That's funny. I've had other cats but none of them would come in the bathroom if I was bathing. My mom's cat would get mad if you were in the bathroom while he was using his litter box. He would howl in indignation. I guess everyone likes their privacy.

My cat adores the bathtub, he loves to roll around in it and yesterday for some reason he started scratching the bottom of it. My inlaws also have cats who love to roll about in their bath, it's so cute. I don't let him in the bathroom if I'm not there though, he has a tendency to deliberately push things over and I definitely lock him out whenever I'm taking a bath. I still remember the time he jumped in the toilet (thankfully a clean one!), that wasn't very pretty. I know him well enough to expect him to jump straight into a full bathtub!

Yeah my cat likes to lick the water. She hates baths! The last time we gave her a bath my boyfriend held her while I soaped her and rinsed. I guess I got my face to close because she sunk her nails into my face and tried to use it as a ladder.

That is so funny because one of my cats does the same thing she will lay in the tub. So I put her little blanket in there for her. I just have to remember to take it out before I take my shower.LOL

I used to have a cat that did that, I think cause they loved me so much they wanted to be whereever I was. Usually my cats will get in the tub (if I don't put bubble bath in there) and lick the water at the end. Although if hey fell in the tub I don't think it would be a good thing, my cats hate to get wet.

When I had my cat, she use to do the same thing. She also would lay in the sink and she loved when the water would just drip, drip on her furr. Cats are so cute and crazy. I miss mine. I would love to have another cat someday. My cat also use to drink tea.. yeah that is a weird one.. LOL!

Maybe she likes the scent of the Lush products you use! She probably can smell them way after us humans can. Maybe the scent reminds her of you, so its comfort to her. Either way, it sounds funny. My dog won't go near the tub. Yesterday I was taking a bath and she really didn't want to hang out in there. I think its because on her first day home I took her straight to that tub to so that she could get bathed (she was dirrrrty when she came home from the shelter).

Luna has done this her whole life before I started using Lush. She really likes the Minty stuff. I have yet to see her try to carry off my products like some Lushie's cats do... but I know it's coming.

Lol, thats one crazy kitty. My cat doesn't actually sit on the side of the bathtub while I'm bathing, and she'll only come into the bathroom if there's a towel on the floor because she doesn't like the feel of the tiles underneath her feet for some reason. However, if there's a towel down, she'll come into the bathroom and meow at me, then put her front paws up on the top of the bath side to take a look, as if to say "Whatcha doin' mama?" I do have to make sure that the toilet lid is down though, she has been caught drinking from the toilet bowl before lol, and yes, I'm aware of how gross that sounds. It's not as though she doesn't have water down because she does. She just prefers the toilet bowl for some reason. If I haven't put a towel down, she'll sit outside the door and meow incessantly till my partner comes to grab her attention away, otherwise she's likely to wake the kids up.

My cat loves the shower and bathtub as well. She sits on the side of the tub when I am showering and will stick her paws in the water. She also loves to jump in the empty tub and pretend like she's hunting me while I am getting ready in the morning. When I can't find her, I know to look in the bathroom because her little eyes will poke up over the edge!

Oh I know! My cat freaks when she falls in. She goes all crazy and forgets she knows how to jump. She just starts trying to climb the wall and keeps sliding back in.

Oh, very common, every cat if given the chance will do this. Cats do hate water but they do have a strong facination for it. My cats do that, or jump in the shower as soon as I'm finished, to quickly drink the water before it goes down. They sit in the hand basin too, and they have to drink out of a running tap (bad habit).
