Movie: Poltergeist

Have you seen the movie, Poltergeist (either 1, 2, or 3)? Possible spoilers follow... I personally didn't find the movie horribly frightening, although I did understand and relate to the fear that the parents must have felt, not being able to find their youngest child. Did you find it scary? If so, which part was scariest for you? Have you seen the special on T.V. of the weird or spooky things that happened during the filming of all three movies? If so, what did you think about that? Do you think those things really happened the way the witnesses described them? Would you have been able to continue working on that film, if you had been in their shoes?

When I was a kid I used to be scared of Poltergeist. But as I grew up and watched it over on tv. Hmmm, scary? not that much. (^^,LOL^^,) Now, I think it has a simple story plot and they are always in the house, quite annoying. But I like the girl, very cute. She has this angel innocent child like aura or look. The one you'll really be willing to fight against Poltergeist to protect her. And back then the effects looked splendid and it was a good movie. Yes, way back then.. But as a grow up now I'm more scared of the Exorcist movie than Poltergeist. Just to think about it I have chills and goosebumps. Well, lets not talk about it. Coming back to Poltergeist, sorry for my drift. (^^,LOL^^,) I think when you do scary movies. There is a possibilities to awaken spirits. Either bad or good, I'm not sure. If I remember it well, for Poltergeist they had unexplained orbs that appeared in some of their shots. You would think it was a part of the movie. But they say it wasn't. They may have used it as a promotional tool. Maybe? But I have seen many scary movies with weird reports about its making especially if it was shot in a "real" haunted house; like unexplained moved objects, light up bulbs even if they were not plugged. Voices singing, crying or calling to someone..etc. If I was a movie actress, I rather not do scary movies. I'll avoid it. The thought of maybe having spirits hovering around you, is not appealing. *..brrr..* Especially if you had to act d..d for it. *..brrr..brrr..* I can't even mention the word. But I do enjoy watching scary movies but I rather not be in their shoes. (^^,) Have a nice day Pangeacat! Keep up the good work dear! (^^,)

Thank you for your response Aphroditei. They had a lot of things happen on set that were especially spooky for them (I found them more interesting than spooky, but that's because I'm weird like that. lol). Some of those skeletons in the movie (that rise up from the ditch they've created to make a pool) were actually real (as they found out later one), though they were all supposed to be just props. When they discovered that, it really freaked out most of the actors, and crew. +

I'm sorry I gave you goosebumps. Actually, that was the big mystery. No one knew how real skeletons got mixed up on the set. They were all supposed to be plastic props. Somehow, a few actual skeletons found their way in there.

I saw the first one, on the small screen (TV) & had nightmares 2 nights running. But it touched 2 of my childhood fears (something under the bed & in the closet.) That was when I well & truely swore off scary movies.

Well, Steven Spielburg said that it was his goal to touch on common childhood fears. So, he was purposely using those as the basis for the "horror" or "scary" aspect of the film. I know it had to work that way with a lot of people. My sister couldn't watch the movie until ... well, now I think about it, she may still be unable to do so (she's 17, lol). I'm sorry that the movie scared you so much. (like me with arachnophobia) +

Want to know which scene disturbed me most? The end of the first one when the family was covered in that gelatinous . . . sh*t.
