I was watching Cable News and saw where Karl Rove was speaking at the American University and a group of Liberal students tried to berak up the speech. It seems that every time a speaker tries to speak on a college campus who has a consertiver point of view they are booed and the students try to shut down speaker. It has happened at columbia, Harved and other colleges. Such tactics were used by Hitler to silenece the opposition. When you don't like the message then don't let them speak. This attempt to restrict speech go allthe way to the top. President Clinton tried to stop the showing of the movie the Path to 9-11. Liberals shout and screem for the rights of the individual to say anything they want. However when someone tries to give the other point of view they are shouted down. Do liberals beleive in true Freedom of Speech?

This is a touchy subject. I do believe in the freedom of speech, but i don't beleive in the freedom to preach hate. I believe every person has his right to an opinion and to express that opinion, but with limitations. It depends on how you get your opinion across and also what that opinion is (hate is seen as an opinion by some). AFter all: most wars were started as a result of a difference of opinion, whether it be religious, or economical or other. Also: If you do believe in freedom of speech: the students that are booing people are actually just exercising that right :), just not in a very constructive manner.

Liberals value freedom of speech like they value a lot of things, only when its their side. They threw stuff at his car! eggs, garbage, etc. No charges were filed? How come when its politically motivated, vandalizism and assault are ignored? Bah

To me it is telling that liberal groups will defend terrorist leaders and tyrants right to speak at our universities, but work just as hard to shut Conservative Americans up.

I'm always amazed at how the conservative speakers always get the violent/disturbing/wierd protests. I think everyone believes in the Freedom of Speech but the liberals only believe in their own. Unfortunately, it appears that the left is sliding back into the childhood ways of throwing tantrums until they get their way. Its sad really.

This is a hard one bob. I don't agree with people screaming and disrupting a speaker, this is no way to get a point across. Protest outside if you must, or don't attend the event at all. On the other hand it is the Freedom of Speech that allows these people to protest in such a way. I am a democrat, and a liberal, and I believe in true Freedom of Speech, as do other liberal democrats I know. This could easily be a two sided argument, with both sides having legitimate points. That being said, I do not agree with the protestors behaving in such a way, but it is just not the Republicans this happens to.
