Here in Australia, there seems to be an emergence of male nannies/babysitters, being dubbed 'Mannies'. My wife and I don't use a nanny, and only occaisionally use a sitter. I always thought of this as traditionally a female position, but I guess times are changing. I have mixed feelings about the idea, just wondering if anyone uses a 'manny', or your thoughts on the subject.

When I was younger, which wasn't that long ago, I had a male nanny. It was a good step on my parents' behalf because I was a tomboy and I was more comfortable around boys. So I guess it depends on the parents and the child on that one.

Yes, I guess it does come down to parents, and the child as well. I probably would've preferred a female nanny, myself if my parents had needed one.

There are children who are not comfortable with their assigned nannies like boys female nannies. i think female nannies can't go along with boys especially if they already know boys and girls differences. So I think boys needs male nannies and girls should have female nannies It is just like private nursing assistant or aid male patient should have male nursing aid and female get female nursing aid also coz think there are differences that only girls know as well as only boys know.
