to parents out there,do you agree that we as parent should be the one to choose what course or career our son/daughter take up,since we know what would be the best for them? There are some parents let their children decide what course to take up after high school but after a year or two, they quit and choose another one.Do you think its a waste of time and money?

I disagree strongly, we as parents would be doing our children a big disservice by choosing who or what they should become. They are individuals and at some point we have to learn to let go and let them figure out their own paths and their own lives. The best we can hope for is that we did our very best at raising them and they in turn become responsible adults. I have a daughter that is fixing to graduate high school next month, and she's thinking about enlisting! That is hard for me to except (with the very real possiblity she would be sent to Iraq) but one that I have to back her on, because it's what she wants to do. I am very proud of both of my daughters and although they have made some not so good choices, haven't we all!

I guess we as parents have likely the same wants for our children that is, for them to have a good future. Thanks for the advise.
