Do people pick up smoking to be like their favourite TV Stars?

I've seen a lot of movies in my entire life, with a lot of famous actors. It seems like smoking appears in movies like a trend, like something special. And i think that's the most important reason why young girls and boys start smoking: just to be like their favorite TV Star. Do you think smoking should be banned from movies? what would you do if your 12-14 year-old child would start smoking just because he/she thinks it's "cool"?
