Since I've no possibility to buy an accoustic set, because I have no room to put it, I decided to buy an electronic drum kit. I'm using the Roland TD-20. Compared with an accoustic drum set I have many advantages... I can play at any day and night time, without disturbing neighbours, I've about 50 different drum kits I can choose from depending of what music style I wanna play. I can define any kind of cymbals, toms, snares etc. And last but not least, it's very easy to record it since you just plug in one single cable to the mixing board and you have the perfect drum sound. Even I love to play on accoustic sets, the E-drums gave me completly new opportunities. What are you guys thinking about it?

I've played on both and while the conviences of electonic drums exists as you stated, I find that accoustic drum will never die. There are lmitations to the electic set, like doing rim shots and gettting a variety of sound out of a cymbol or drum itself. Also electric set cost about 3 times as much. But they are a lot smaller and easier to carry around.

I agree, that accoustic sets won't ever die and of course they shouldn't. I see electronic and accoustic set as two different instruments, even both are drums. But both versions are having different features, whitch you can use for your music/band/recording. Thanx for your opinion!

Good point. I forgot to add that I think electric pads are not bad idea to add to a set. This what you can change up sounds and add in different percussions instruments as needed without having to go out and buy each individual piece.

i have the same problem as you, so i also bought a digital drum set. mine's a yamaha dd60. i don't know which is better, but mine's just a compact drum set, i do enjoy playing it, i'm just a novice drummer. but i like playing on an acoustic drumset better. it just feels like whenever i hit my drum pads, i can still hear the sound that my sticks make when they hit the rubber pads.

Drums - A set of drums.
I could not understand how they play drums. I play the organ and my younger son plays the guitar and the drums and also my older son. If my younger son plays the guitar, my older is the drummer.

I haven't play E-drum kit yet, but once tried, *sits, a little tap on it then out* hahahah, well, for me acoustic drums is the best, but your neighbors gonna be your worst enemy here, luck me, don't have neighbors ^^ You have your advantage there because anytime you can play your kit.
