If you feel so tired maybe you just have to take a free of work day and spend in bed.Your body tell you that is time for a pause, and is better to listen...
I had very much days like this but now once spring is here all is more easy...I work afternoon and to me is great that i can sleep longer than usually...

every now and then that is good-some jobs let you take "personal" days.they don't always grant them in summer, but sometimes you just have to.

Although I am quite happy with my job, but the only real motivation is money , without money, i cannot survive, i cannot pay the bills and support my basic needs, no matter how unhappy i was in my workplace, I will be very happy when i get paid and see my bank account get credit, thta is the only motivaion for my work..may be ..

Being that I am usually the only one capable of doing the things assigned to me at work is motivation. If I'm not there to get the things done that I need to get done, knowing that it'd end up piled up with deadlines & that I'd be stressed out from having it put off waiting for me gets me going.

Too bad that the stuff you did - it was a case of you were the only one capable of handling, & that the said stuff was VERY important stuff. That's why stuff piles up when I take time off, it ends up piled up.

If I haven't taken a day for awhile to appreciate myself, I take the day off and do me things. Then I call it a mental health day, and I feel okay about it. That way I'm fully motivated for quite awhile and don't want to takeday off.

exactly.
i've seen employees here in the service industry
that are on their 11th,13th day in a row like zombies.technically,it's illegal, but they always find a way around it.
if they gave these people a break, productivity would go way up.

There are plenty of days that when it's time for me to get up I just want to roll right back to sleep again...Actually I'm receiving SSI Disability--have been for sometime...so I haven't technically speaking worked in the "outside" world for some time--I've been a sufferer of Panic disorder with agoraphobia, but like to think I'm an overcomer of the problem and am working toward that goal--still now that I have my own computer finally, plus fillm scanner--I'm going after one of my dreams--I used to be a published photographer all the time then family situations intervened and my "career" came to a halt,...it wasn't the disorder that got to me but a situation my mom created..long story...So now I'm in the process of transferring my slides into digitized images and my ultimate eventual goal is to set up a real pro website and sell directly onl-ine--the bottom line is that I'm building a business which ain't easy, but I'm too stubborn to back out or stop...I've had too many setbacks in my life to quit now--ANYWAY--so technically speaking it can be viewed that in a way, I'm working at home...STILL....just because I do work at home doesn't mean I don't have days I just plain don't want to do anything...The enormity of the task in setting myself up as a business can be overwhelming at times--but I'm a relentless boss to myself..if I worked for someone llike myself I'd quit--LOL--I like to think though that all this effort will eventuallyl pay off--Also what can I say, I'm the classic overachiever type--So yes, there are plenty of days though that I'm tired, don't feel great, and especiallyl burnt out--but then the reality sinks in--I'm a photographer right? Do you know how MANY photographers there are out there?--When that reality hit me a lesser person would have probably given up--so even on those days I just plain don't want to be glued here in front of the computer, re-writng my resumes, re-writng my list of published photos, scanning more photos, building the website I do have, etc etc--so ever on those days, I force myself to do something, anything toward my targeted goal..since for everyday I don't do something...another photographer can come along and take my place..So I just keep on keeping on...on the good days, but especially on those crummy days I have--LOL
Uh--does this answer the question???? LOL ;-)

I just think of the person who has to pick up my slack if I'm not there and that usually does the trick. I'm a sucker for guilt and like to avoid it at all costs. When there are only five people in your department, it makes taking a day off, or even thinking about taking a day off for that matter, difficult.

ooh-good one.
that's very true.i worked in a bar where most of the time i was the only waitress.the other people would show up for maybe one day, then quit.
i almost never had a dayoff.the best i could hope for was going home early on a slow night.

I write for a living, so I can go to work and stop anytime I want. Tonight I got a really good idea for a short piece, and sat down and wrote it the second I got home from shopping. I love being able to work like that, to work when inspiration hits me, regardless of time or date.

I usually plan one goof off day a month. I am the boss so I can do that without getting in trouble :]
I'd rather my employees tell me straight up that they don't feel like working rather than lying and saying they are sick. That's when I start to panic and think that everyone there is going to catch what ever is going around.

i've noticed a lot of jobs have "personal days"
now..you still have to give notice, but it's cool if you have an emergency.

To motivate me,I think of that day being missing from my paycheck, lol. That's what motivates me. I just keep asking myself what's more important,a day off or the money I make from it?Hope that helps

WHen I was working, I would lay in bed and wonder, should I call in or should I not? I would always get out of bed after thinking, who is going to pay your bills if your short on money? How are you going to put food on the table? What if your car breaks down? Or your child needs something and because you missed this one day of work, you couldn't provide it? This is what always gets me out of bed, when I am feeling lazy and don't want to go to work. That and my brother does this, he calls in to work often and has lost jobs over it. He can't get ahead and he keeps falling behind. So, that is also a motivator.

exactly.that's the same motivator i have.
i only call in when i'm so sick i'd make other people ill.and sometimes i still go,though i'd rather not expose people.

I rely on coffee. No mattr how crummy or unmotivated I might feel, eventually the caffeine kicks in and will get me moving. There are plenty of days I would rather just skip it, but by the third cup of coffee I am god to go.

Sometimes, when I don't
get lots of sleep I feel very burned
out.
That's when I open the shades and let the sun in
and just stand there in the
sunshine and soak it all in.
Lack of sunshine can make a person
feel bad.
It's something to do with the brain, I think.
But, the sunshine sends signals to the
brain to feel awake and energized.
If you stand in front of an open window
within 15 minutes of waking, you'll feel
refreshed all day.
