Do you like olives?

I hate olives with a passion and have a phobia about them. If I see people eating them it makes me feel sick. It is the green stuffed olives even writing that makes me taste them and feel sick. I hate them with a passion.
When I was younger I was at a family meal and I took this great big green looking thing to my dad and asked him if it were a greengager (type of plum that is green) and he said yes so I took a huge bite out of it and was almost sick. Ever since then I have hated them with a passion. Every time I see them, think about them or am near them I feel sick.
What do you think of olives?

oh I am so with you! I find them revolting at best. They are drippy and stuffed into a jar with whatever that stuff is that keeps them "fresh" . My Aunt always puts them in a big salad and I have to pick them out. I can't even stand looking at them! My son put them on his fingers once and I thought I was going to start gagging!

I don't really care for them either. Your story reminds me of why my husband doesn't like salmon. He bit into his sandwich one day and instead of being tuna (which he loves) it was his mom's salmon sandwich. Ever since then, he's hated it. (before, he just didn't like it much).
My friends like olives, and fortunately for me, it doesn't really bother me to see them eating them. Sometimes I even keep a jar of them in my fridge for them to eat.

I love black olives. I like having them any way I can get them. Plain or on things like salads, sandiwches or pizza. They are one of my favorites. Of course they are also high in calories but I still love them. Now I hate green olives. I can't stand the flavor of them. Those I avoid.

Sadly very few children like olives, and its not uncommon to feel revolted by them, until suddenly as an adult, you pluck up the courage to try one again and realise they are absolutely delicious. Do you eat olive oil for example?
What I would say though is if you ever do decide to experiment again, do it with a very very good olive, go to a delicatessen counter and look for the big fat stone in olives, not the stuffed, tinned or pickeled ones. A proper ripe black olive will be a million miles from those rather nasty processed stuffed ones that make you feel ill.

I love olives. I use to hate them but I love them now. I just recently got to know that green ones and black ones are the same olives - only black ones are ready. Did you know that?

Olives are just SICK! I cannot stand them, I don't like the smell of them, I can't even look at them.
They're one of the few things that my kids and partner won't touch and those guys have some pretty adventurous tastebuds LOL.
I see some people eating them like they're the best thing ever and while I understand that we all like different things, I cannot stand and watch people eating them. They make me want to heave.

Well I know I don't have a hope to get your best response LOL. First I will say I have read everyones response and I am totally shocked to see how many people hate olives. It really did surprise me. I absolutely LOVE olives. I like the ripe olives too but I prefer the green stuffed olives. This is comfort food for me. I have eaten a jar at a time by myself. I have also sliced the olives and made a sandwich out of them. I don't want you guys gaging so I say bye for now.
