I had a nephew, who is already 19 years old, with a mind of a 5 years old.He is deaf and mute and the only way we can communicate is by sign language. He is diagnose with high intellectual quotient, but because of his emotions the wild side is always the answer in all his existance.Sometimes he goes mad and sometimes calm.We are already hooked with this daily chores attending and looking forward for his welfare. Can someone suggest any medication to make him calm and make him rational and normal. Please help me........

I guess special children needs special attention that is you have to be able to cope and attend to his needs. He needs special education and thru that he may learn to control his emotions. But I guess there is no real medications or cure to this problem. You should always show him that you really care and hopefully he would reciprocate that when the time he would be able to control his feelings. Although I have heard that there is medications being prescribed by some psychiatrist to calm him down but I heard that the side effect is that he might be dependent on that medicine and he may developed some immunity to it after sometime making it more difficult to manage than it is right now.

Dear friend, Thank you very much for your response.I have done it before to my nephew, but it is true that it helps a lot to my nephews sufferrings. There are times that he feels like having somebody playing and talking to him, but the truth is there was nobody around but me and him together.
