People are strange!

Jim Morrison of the Doors rock band sang:
"People are strange...when you're a stranger".
I often wondered what he meant by that, but I sort of 'assumed' it had something to do with being an "unknown" in a "foreign" place. Or...it could have had some reference to being under the influence of something (i.e. feeling like a 'stranger'...and, people might certainly seem "strange" then, too!).
Not sure, but I guess it doesn't really matter anyway, because the truth is that
"PEOPLE REALLY ARE STRANGE"...
Didn't you ever just sit on a park bench, or maybe in your car outside a mall or supermarket? We're all sometimes 'guilty' of "people-watching"; granted, some of that is 'cupid's influence', but much is aimed at taking note of the various ways people behave in their everyday 'normal' activities. Sometimes it gets downright funny...and sometimes it can be kinda sad, too.
I recall one day my wife and I were sitting in our car outside a small 'strip-mall' that had a covered sidewalk along the front. The roof cover was supported by posts located near the outer edge of the sidewalk. A young man was walking along with a female companion...he was talking up a storm, and not really paying attention where he was walking. Yup! You guessed it! He walked right smack into one of the support posts...! Of course, he looked around quickly to see if anyone noticed (I don't think he saw us watching...!), took a quick 'scowling' look at the post (as though the post had been to blame), rubbed his nose a little (guess he must've bumped his nose into the post), then kept walking.
Seeing that he appeared to be alright, my wife and I looked at each other and burst out laughing. Not because this young man had possibly hurt himself, but because he had demonstrated something that ALL of us perhaps have experienced ourselves! Maybe not in just the same way, but we could certainly identify with the feelings of 'embarrassment and stupidity' that accompany such missteps and miscues...especially in a public place, in broad daylight!!
So...while all of us might be "strange" at times, we're also quite "un-strange" when it comes to some of these 'similarities of behavior'.
Anyone got any other "strange" tales?

Hehe.. that was cute.^^
Whenever I happen to slip in public or bump into something/someone, I burst out laughing. Yeah, people are strange.. but the strangest tend to have the most interesting stories, too.
One time I invited an old woman to lunch. While she was eating, she began telling mer her story - I didn't understand everything, though, because I don't have a good hearing, plus she speaks so softly. But from what I gathered, she had been to places, and that even though she's really really old, it is her that brings food home for her grandchildren.
She raised an interesting question, though - she asked me if I'm a nun. XD I smiled and asked her what made her ask that question, and she said that from one of the places she had been, a couple of nuns would treat her to lunch. I was ridiculously touched by that story, and I said that no, I am not a nun.
Have a lovely day, dear. Enjoy some more people-watching! \m/^_^
