In our country where almost every items in store are not cheap and common people have only small budget from their salary like me, love to go after these discounted, buy one take one (50% off), and sales product with additional free items. I know for a fact that some or most of these items are those are not marketable, others are about to expired, and some have factory defects. In short its a second rate. But then when budget is tight, its practical for me to take these items not unless it will endangered my family's health. How about you people?

I don't do this with food items as I might never get to use them and they might end up in the garbage. I always buy the two for one or three for two when I am buying toiletries such as toothpaste, shampoos and soaps. I also buy goods that are on special offer or ones that have a free gift with them.

I was in food distributor company before and there I learned that when canned foods and other non-perishable goods reached its expiration date, usually it still have 3 months grace period where you can still consume it without placing yourself in danger. The disadvantage is that the nutrients it has will definitely gone by that time.

I also love to shop when there are mall-wide sales. Before I did not care much about the prices of the items I bought. If I want something and I could afford it, I buy it. But now I am a frugal shopper. I prefer to save more money than spend too much cash on shopping. But that only applies to clothes, shoes, bags, and other accessories. When it comes to food, I do not care about spending. I do not like to buy food that is nearing its expiration date.

This time we have to be smart in shopping and some branded stuffs have prices that are to high compared to non-branded but with almost the same quality. You have a point on spending the right price for food which is not about to expire since it may affect our health.

Yup, going for the bargain and sale items would be the most practical thing to do this days when shopping because of the decreasing purchasing power of most people. I mean let's face it most economies are going down except for India and China who's soaring up but even the giant economy of the US is suffering. This is not the time to squander what we have painstakingly earned but I don't think buying non-marketable goods like "almost expired" goods is practical because if we'd get sick with what we bought it would cost us more. Going for the bargain is only applicable to non-perishable items.

I am always on the lookout for items on sale especially in clothing and accessories. There are times that if you look really hard, you'll be able to find yourself a great deal. I have some pieces that really worth more that how much they were sold for. But when it comes to food and other stuffs that you take in, I wouldn't take any chances.
