We have lived here for 5 months. Trash day around here is tuesday. Every week we put our cans out at the street and every week they ignore our cans. we have called the waste management co. and complained, we go strictly by the guidlines for our county but they still refuse to pick up our trash. On occasion there supervisor comes out two or three days later and picks it up. He keeps saying he's not sure why they aren't picking ours up. Don't you think they should be fired or at least repremanded???

I have never heard of such a rude and crude thing. Is there a problem with where you put your cans and where you part your car? Have you tried to put your cans with the neighbors that might work? I do believe you need to call the supervisor everytime they do not pick up your cans, I also think you need to ask to speak to someone other than just a supervisor of waste management, maybe a director. Maybe if your neighbors complained also that might help. Do you know any city couselmen or city leaders you can get help with. This is a health risk. Maybe the health department, well maybe not them. I am pulling at straws here to help you. Get their butts fired.

FYI this is not a health risk. Trash being missed for a few days isn't really something that the health department would really take action on. In regards to fireing anyone i think that all the facts need to be taken into consideration. They shouldn't put their cans next to their neighbors that could be a disaster they should make sure to put out the night before and make sure its not next to anything. I happen to work in a garbage company and give any information needed.

Thanks! At first i thought it was because we had boxes in there but i have watched them and they either totally ignore our cans or they open the lid and just get back on the truck. I don't understand what the deal is.

We put our cans next two the driveway on the opposite side from the mail box. So there is nothing obstructing it.

I happen to work for a garbage company. I really hope that you aren't in my county. But either way the best thing to do is make sure you have your trash out the night before that nothing is blocking your trash that your container isn't over full. Make sure you have it at least five feet away from all objects including other containers. I highly doubt that its because the garbage men don't like you. I have this complaint alot from customers but garbage men are human as well and they have long work days and can be expected to miss containers. They aren't perfect just like all of us aren't perfect. A good thing to keep in mind is that if they did miss you that its not personal although it may feel that way. You may want to call into their office and ask that they make reminders for the driver in your particular area. But most of all make sure that the can is out at least the night before and visable. The driver shouldn't have to get off the truck to empty the container they want to empty it as quickly as possible and move on to the next one. I hope this helps and makes you feel better. If you have any other questions i am more than happy to answer them.

Thanks for the advise. We live on a very busy road so we can't put our cans on the street. It is in the grassy area next to the driveway . We can't put it back further because there is a ditch behind it. From what I have viewed they park the truck accross the street. . .in the road and walk across the street to the can. Peer in and walk back to the truck. On occasion I have seen them walk up my driveway to the other cans next to our garage and go thru them then walk back to the truck. Can they do that?

what exactly is being placed in the containers? Im wondering if its dangerous for the driver to be walking across the street then with the can. You may want to call the office and find out if there is a better are to set your container. I'm sorry that you are having such difficulty with this. What state do you live in? I actually work for Waste Connections which isn't Waste Managment. But still there are certain rules and things that we have to follow. Drivers can look through your garbage to make sure you aren't putting anything harmfull in the containers. But if they are purposly not emptying it then they have to have a reason and they should be telling their office so that way the office can note it on the account. I would call the office again and ask to speak to their Site Manager. If they say that the person isn't available then ask to have either the District Managers number or the Corporate number. Some times its better to take it up to the corporate level. What ever you do please try to be nice to the customer service people i know you are frustrated but we are here to help and it just makes us upset and frustrated if you are angry and take it out on us. All we want to do is make sure you are happy. Its hard for us to do that when we are getting yelled at or being told rude remarks. I know that you probably don't but just for future refrence. Anyway if you have any more questions i'll be more than happy to answer them.

I have never had or experienced a problem with our garbage people. When they come try to be at home and go outside when they are there and ask them what is the problem. Hope you get it sorted out.

This is downright rude and disrespectful. These garbage collectors are not doing their job. If the supervisor comes out to collect your garbage again, stop him and tell him that something needs to be done about it. Just having him say he's not sure why they won't pick it up is useless and bloody ridiculous! Tell him you're fed up and sick of always having put the cans out, only for them not to get emptied, and that unless something is done, you're going to take your story to the local newspapers offices. This may spur him into action. Negative light on any job like that isn't good in my experience, and usually they'll do anything to avoid it. I wish you luck in sorting this out.

actually putting a negative light on the situation will make the other garbage men feel victimized and then they will hate all the customers i dont think that is a very good idea.

That stinks, Maybe if your neighbors are close mix yours with theirs. I know that if I have alot of trash I'll try to spread it out a bit. But I have never had a problem with them not taking it at all. When I bought this hose from my parents there was like a month where I had a HUGE pile of trash and I just made sure that I was here to help them load it and the took it all. Considering that this seems to be an on going problem I would say that they absolutely should have already been repremanded and should soon be facing termination.

well if they aint picking up yours then that means they aint picking up some other peoples too so something needs to be done about it before we moved where we are now ours wouldnt pick up either but my b/f would stand out there so when the come by he would let them know that he was standing right there untill ours was gone so i beleave something needs to be done too.

oh so sorry to hear that... maybe your house is just too far or maybe you are not trying to be friendly.. try to be friendly... If the problem are those garbage men, better reprimand them, they are not doing their job...they are being paid for their job so they must do their work...
