Home you grew up in

The house I grew up in was a gorgeous southern almost mansion 4000 square feet. I now have a small 3 bedroom, I have adjusted. Did any of you grow up wealthy and now are just average in income and live in a much less prestigeous home and lifestyle? Just curious, that is me and it bothers me at times...

Well... we weren't wealthy but it felt like it to me as a child. We lived in the only 2-story home in a new suburb just south of Chicago. There were 6 kids, and we had 5 upstairs bedrooms to share. So we changed up every once in a while, depending on who was getting along at the time! We had a full fridge and freezer and pantry all the time. We went to Dairy Queen with all the neighbor kids in tow at least once a week. When I got to high school, I drove all my friends to school every day (we lived 4 blocks from the school!) and always had spending/gas money. Sheesh! I guess we were very well off. Now it seems I can't keep the larders full, y'know? And it bothers me at times, also.

That sounds nice! The house I grew up in was not a mansion or whatever, but it was better than what I have now, which is military housing! And it's bottom of the barrel 1950's military housing. The house I grew up in was pretty big, and had a couple acres of land for me and my brother to run around it. Now I live in a duplex, and the house next door to me the roof has caved in! Not something to really be proud of.
