What do you think and do about having sweets in the house?

Do you do keep sweets in the house all the time so whenever you or your family wants to eat them, they'll be there? Sweets like candy, cookies, or even homemade dessert? Do you always have sweets in stock? Or do you only buy sweets for special occasions and don't have them laying around?

We like sweets, actually my whole family is not picky when it comes to food. As much as we like to store some cookies, chocolates, candies in the house, we just cant. The funny thing is that everytime my mom buys sweet thats supposed to last for a week, it would be gone before the end of the day at most time. It would be lucky if it would last a day or two. My brother is a voracious eater, and most of the time he would sneak and eat behind our back. When we check on the chocolates and cookies in our bin, wrappers are all thats left. Thats why we my sisters and i always pick at him. lol The other night i made some sweet dessert, i put it in the refrigerator to chill, after a while when i checked back my father was eating it already when i repeatedly said never to touch it until every one of us is home, i got mad since he was not able to wait. But, you know what, we really like eating. Even if we are not that well off we have lots of food in the house.

I like a lot of sweets too. Sometimes we have candy but we usually don't have anything special like cookies or brownies and we hardly ever have homemade desserts. We got some cookies to make for Easter but that's the first in a long time. I can live without sweets, yes - but I still love them! :) Thanks for your reply.

I am an ogre. I don' keep sweets or soft drinks. My husband is the opposite and would probably live off them if allowed and let the kids have way too much. I also keep crisps-potato chips to the minimum. If we have children coming over for a play fate I make sure I have cookies to offer them. If it is a holiday I may also have soda. I would always have that for birthdays. I don't even let them have much juice. A glass with breakfast, and if we are out at a cafe they can have a juice or soft drink, but I encourage the juice. All of this is easy enough to enfore at home, and their friends parents are of like mind. The problem is when we visit relatives in the States that have a whole refrigerator in the garage pretty much full of Coke and all of that. I have to put in a rule that they are limited to a can a day, but I wish they just didn't keep it in the house.

That's good that you are keeping your kids and your family healthy. Soft drinks can be really damaging to a person's body! Thank you for your response. :)

We ALWAYS keep sweets in the house, being a self-confessed chocoholic I HAVE to have some chocolate in the house. I keep a bar of Cadbury's wholenut in the fridge which can last up to two weeks, I know it's there and when I fancy a slab I go and help myself. We also have maltesers, mum always brings me boxes as well as chocolate biscuits. Guess that's willpower eh! They last ages.

I also love chocolate. I once had a one pound chocolate bar that was huge and I ate it all in one day. I can't exactly only eat a little at a time of that kind of thing. :P Have a good weekend and happy Holidays! ~Taymouse

In November I ordered a case of Turkish Delight from http://www.turkishtaste.com (about a dozen boxes). I gave a couple away for Christmas, I already ate a few boxes, and I am down to one box. I eat a couple of pieces every day. I am just about to order another case. That should last a couple of months.

We always have sweets in our house. We especially like chocolate and some type of cookies. No one in my house abuses them though. They'll just take one or two and that's it. It's nice to have a treat every once in a while as long as you don't binge on it.

I like chocolate too. Mmm. :) That's a good thing that everyone is responsible with their sweets though. Happy holidays, and thank you for your answer!

i love cookies and chocolate bars. i eat more of these at night time than during the day. I'm not a great fan of candy. it's just sugar really. I always order sweets monthly.

I love chocolate, but I usually only REALLY love cookies if we buy then, make them, and then I eat them straight out of the oven with a glass of milk when they're all melty and warm. :) Oh gosh. We bought some chocolate chip cookies to make for Easter and now I'm getting the urge to go pop them in the oven right now! I must refrain. Happy holidays and have a great weekend! ~Taymouse

I do have candies, cookies, chips, also healthy snacks in the house all the time. I have many jar full with different kinda all of those yummies. My family can just eat them whenever they want too. And it's also for just in case we have people come to visit us than we'll have something besides drinks to offer on the table.
