Are you a solitary wiiccan/pagan or do you belong to a coven?

I was just wondering how many of you are solitary "witches" --followers of the wiccan/pagan path, or belong to a coven? As for myself, I'm a solitary although I wouldn't mind finding a good legit coven.

Yes, I too am a solitary practioner. I like to practice Paganism and witchcraft. I am a devout pagan. It would be really nice to find a coven around my area though. I would definetelly join. The closet one is at least an hour and a half away. I enjoy being a solitary witch though. I believe in the religion my own way. I sort of mix Wicca with many of the other pagan religions and honor many Gods and Goddesses. Many people I think would try and start a religios debate if I stated my beliefs, and I don't feel like argueing.

I too honor many Gods and Goddesses--and yes, like you, I might spark a debate since part of my beliefs is that I mix gods/goddesses of various cultures--supposedly a real taboo in the stricter traditions

I am solitary. But like you, I would also like to find a good coven. But the thing is...it is hard to find people that are not fluffy bunnies (as my sister would call them:). I have a very strong way that I believe. And I fear that I would not mix well with others. Besides...I live in the Bible Belt! LOL as much as I would like to...I do not think a legit coven or Pagan Group will be all too revealing. I went to a Pagan Pride gathering last summer downtown...and it was a joke! OK, not really a joke...but it did not feel like it was about Pagan Pride. It felt like people just getting together to sell their stuff. And even then, over half the stuff had nothing to do with Paganism!

Do you belong to any Yahoo group things?--Just do a Yahoo group search for wicca/pagan and a lot come up--that way you can join these groups and at least be connected with fellow pagans...uh.Bible belt huh...no I guess our beliefs wouldn't go over big there..LOL

I did try a couple Yahoo Groups. But then I found that they were not very active and I became bored. And then what was posted had nothing to do with being Pagan or Wiccan. Then I tried a myspace group....and I got into an argument with some people there because they had no clue what Pagan was but yet called themselves Pagan. So I left that too. Hence, I fear joining any groups and have my hopes dashed again from them being Fluffy Bunnies. LOL

i too am a solitary practitioner and really have no desire to join in with others. I like to walk my own path, doing what suits me and what i am comfortable with. I have never fitted in well with organisations, i tend to rub them up the wrong way blessed be

one thing i see from looking at your other responses is that we do march to a different drum, always slightly out of step with the rest of the world, i really wouldnt have it any other way blessed be

Actually I have tended to be solitary all my life to begin with---LOL--no brothers or sisters, latch key kid, so pretty much on my own anyway...maybe you and I and people similar to us are what society calls one who listens to a different drummer--

I prefer to be a solitary practitioner. I'm not very good at working with others and I find this way I can participate in my beliefs the way I think they should be. There isn't a conflict between me and someone else and how they might think something should be said, done or what have you.

*raises hand* Solitary, heh. Living out in the middle of nowhere means I don't have the option of being in a coven. In any case, I'm not sure I'd be in one if it was possible anyway..I've always been more comfortable doing things by myself (like with pretty much everything).

I feel most confortable in solitary. ive tried several times working within a group or teaching in a group, but it has not worked as well as I wished. I think solitary is the way to go, and we should come together for very specific goals.

I could never work with or be part of a coven....I'm far too set in my ways and much prefer to do things MY way without outside influences which IMO would make things (the energy/air/moment etc) cloudy....In fact I've never worked with anyone really coven or otherwise (minus my kids...)

I'm solitary too. I'm a loner so I feel more comfortable practicing and learning on my own. Although if I had a close of great friends who believed similarly to me then I might would. My hubby takes up much of my time too so it's hard for me to make plans cause we always want to spend our free time together. This way I can work around that.

I'm a loner too...not that I don't like to mix with folks and socialize, but I've always had a preference for solitude

I'm solitary. There really aren't any covens around here, nor any that I'd feel comfortable working with. I'd rather be in a group of people that I know well outside of the group.

I'm a solitary Pagan. Mostly out of choice, but I guess I wouldn't mind being part of a coven. I just don't really see the use of it for me as I've always been an einzelganger.

Coven out in the middle of nowhere about 6 inches south of the bible belt (according to most maps). Hehe. I just realized that our tiny little coven will be 12 years old this coming May. I haven't been around for all of it, but for a lot of it. It's gone through a lot and has had times when it had 50 members, but most times it's only had around 3-5 members. I like it better when it's small. It has a much cozier feel to it then. From what I understand/have seen a lot of groups tend to only have a few members and many groups only last a few years and then the members move on. That's a natural (and healthy) part of spiritual growth for pagans. Most groups also tend to be really quiet from what I've seen, especially if they're in a small town area. They can be really hard for folks to find. That I know of there are two groups in the area and just a little north of us is some land a group of Sumerians use for gatherings. It took me 5 years to even find out about those.

solitary.i prefer working by myself, though occasionally with a close friend. there's a few covens local to me,but too far. i couldn't commit to distance with my mother's health.
