Do any of you ever have panic attacks? I don't get them often, but I had one a bit ago. A thought of something such as bills will trigger one, or a new situation, anything really. I try to breathe deep and think of something else, but it's hard. How do you cope with panic attacks?

Yes I started geting them 2.5 years ago, and about 2 years ago i went to the doctor and got put on medication. I take Lexapro, well i did until my insurance decided to just randomly stop paying for it becuase health insurance in the US sucks, but the nurse gave me like 9 months of free samples. I dont know what i'm going to do when those run out. You also get terrible withdrawls when you stop, even when you wean yourself slowly off them. For me they'd be caused by stress and beign overtired, usually. I'd feel so anxious that i'd be shaking and have that nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach, and I had this fear that I was going to lose touch with reality (hard to describe) and also a fear of dying. Turning all the lights on helped some, what helped the most was being around other people to try an get myself through it. I know how much they suck, i'm sorry you are dealing with them. Have you thought about going to the doctor? Theres lots of medications out there to help, although a lot of health insurances don't care and will only pay for the cheapest meds available even if those ones dont work for you at all.

i am the same way, in fact taking new medications is what can MAKE me have a panic attack. They got so bad though it was affecting my daily life and was desprete. Im glad i did becuase i got no side effects from the lexapro. I would be scared to try another med though now that i have one that works, because i'm scared of side effects.

I don't even like taking tylenol, thanks for the suggestion, but I don't think I have them often enough to warrent meds. I also have often have weird side effects to meds, so I am leary about taking stuff that is even prescribed by a doctor.

I have panic attacks all the time.. and the only way for me to stop one is for my Fiance to hold me close as he is whispering stuff in my ear like things are going to be ok.. and the such! I have dealt with panic attacks since I was pregnant with my oldest daughter! They suck to have.

I haven't had a panic attack in quite awhile. When I had them frequently, I drank water and tried to focus on everything except the panic attack. It is hard, but deep breathing, in through the nose and out through the mouth really helped me cope.

I've had a couple... I had a friend with me there though to talk to me and help me calm down... It's pretty scary.

Well, at least I know I am not alone, that others have them too. I am alone right now, so I had to work through it by myself.
