What Does Easter Mean to You?

When this time of year rolls around, I reflect on Christ and what was going on in His life at this time. Tonight, the night before Good Friday, was the night of the Last Supper when Jesus knew the next day He was going to be arrested in the garden of Gethsemene and be taken to be crucified. For me, as a Christian, it reminds me of what God has done for me, giving His only son, to die for me, and for you. The stores do the commercializing and sell their colored eggs and easter bunnies. It has nothing to do with what Easter is really about. Tell me what Easter means to you.

I believe that easter is the same for me as it is for you. I reflect on the events that lead up to Jesus being nailed on the cross and wonder what was going on in his mind at the time, taking on the whole sin of the world for all generations, past and to come. Then I feel my heart go out to him when his Heavenly Father has to turn his back on him because of the sin. I remember the time in between and all the things he had achieved, then come Sunday I will rejoice in his resurrection and new beginning.

Amen... it's such a sweet time isn't it? A time of renewal. We have the video The Passion and my husband and I are going to watch it tonight. It's a great movie, did you see it?

I just got home from choir practice. We are doing our Easter cantata Sunday. One of the songs we do in the cantata makes the hair on my neck stand up. The name of the song is "It is Well With my Soul" and the words that almost make me cry are: "my sin, not in part, but the whole, is nailed to His cross and I bear it no more! Praise the Lord, praise the Lord! It is well with my soul!" That just says it all.

OH Susieq, That is my VERY favorite of allllllllll time!! Have you ever heard David Phelps sing that song? Whoa. . . talk about a powerful voice. His voice is amazing, but when he sings that song, the song comes to life. My favorite line is, And Lord haste the day when my faith shall be sight, and the clouds be rolled back as a scroll, the trump shall resound and the Lord will descend, even so, it is well with my soul!!! I get chills just typing it! I need to go get my Gaither Video out now!!
