Do you remember the "Blue Laws" that once were on the books in many states? WikipediA has an interesting write-up about them, and tells how most of them have either been repealed or just aren't enforced. There are some that are still enforced in some areas, though very few.
I recall once having a list of some of these laws some time ago, and I remember what a chuckle I'd get when reading some of them. Don't get me wrong...I believe they certainly had their important place in their day, and in some cases, it might even be beneficial to 're-enact' some of them, but...my objective here is more to perk up some discussion of what some of those laws might have covered, and how they were worded, etc.
I did a quick Google search and found an interesting one for Rhode Island (no offense to any Rhode Islanders here!): It says:
"Any marriage where either of the parties is an idiot or lunatic is null and void".
Wow! Powerful stuff, those Blue Laws...wonder who determined who the idiots or lunatics were?!
Any others come to mind?

That's funny!!!! I know of some friends who might have saved on divorce, had this law been on the books today.

I do remember the blue laws...had to think back abit though....when I was in my early twenties..I waited tables in a restaurant, of course that morning my panyhose had a run in them and so I went to the local store to get a pair..they would not sell them to me...I was furious! But calmly explained to me that it was agaist their (Missouri) State Law. I stocked up on panyhose and eventually got over being upset about it (might as well, could not change it).
One of the Oklahoma Laws that I always found funny is that "it is illegal to wear high heels in downtown Tulsa"..I have been told that it stemmed from a lady who sued the city after her high heel shoes got stuck in one of the storm drain grates and she injuried herself...I found it amuseing and thought I would share it.
