suggestion about buying laptop?

i'm going to buy a laptop, but as everyone knows that there are so many brands in the world, i don't know which brand to buy? and how to choose?
can anybody give me some suggestion?

choose laptop depend upon ur work
if u doing multimedia work go high configration
if u doing checking mail and typing word go low configration.
now windows vista is released so buy the pc vista compitable. choose the brand who is having more service centre in ur near place
