Follow your pastor, or burn for it???

Ok, this question is not mine. I will go ahead and give you the heads up on how this came about. My mother goes to church where it has come to a point. The pastor is telling them, that if "They do not follow him, they are wrong." More so, a lot of people have been leaving their church, becuase of something the pastor did. Now, he says they need to follow him, because God says so. My question, for my mothers sake. I KNOW it is not true. I would just like to know what you think, and if anyone knows if it says that in the Bible. If it does, what book/chapter, or what not. So I can research it. I would highly appreciate ANY insite you can give. Thank you :)

That pastor sounds like he is beginning to form a cult. Follow him? That is very alarming and I hope your mom finds a different church, one that the pastor asks them to follow God, not an imperfect human. I wish your mother good luck!

THANK YOU!!! That's what I said. It sounds like a freakin' cult. Plus, as you said, we should be following God, not some self-righteous human. Just to agree with you more. I one time, left after sunday school (when I did go to that church), because my friend was having "woman troubles" we left, talked, and came back that night. ONLY! To be swarmed, by about 10 people asking why we left after sunday school, instead of going straight into church. I was like OMG! I go to church, because I WANT to. To learn and conversate with good christian people, not because I HAVE to. I feel if you need to leave for whatever reason may be. You should be welcomed back with open arms, not told you are a sinner cause you aren't there every second of every service. WOW! THANK YOU! Someone who actually understands! lol. Sorry, I got carried away it is just I have tried to explain this to my mother hundreds of times, and it just pisses her off. Good to hear people who understand my point of view. Good point :)

I hope your mother changes her mind. At least she has you. Your concern might sink in as legitimate. Hopefully, it does.

I probably will burn for asking this question, but atleast I will know the answer. How come no one can give me a legit answer by the way? This post has been up for 3 days and still no response... seem odd? NO! Because no one can show me a verse where it says that...
