keep your garden simple

developing a co-ordinated colour theme always looks best, so avoid buying bedding plants labelled as 'mixtures', choosing and matching individual colours with one another instead. keep it simple, a bit of this and that can look a mess unless you really have a good eye. repetition works, matching colours and planting between one pot and another. think of each pot as part of a bigger display, grouping together pots and baskets that complement one another. when it comes to compost the choice can be baffling. choose a good quality multipurpose compose rather than the cheapest on offer. try to find one that retains moisture and provides plants with all the nutrition they need to grow strongly and flower profusely.

Good advise. I sometimes like the mixture but I see your point that it is more pleasing to the eye. Happy gardening.
