Well i thought i would start this up to say i just got my star and via reading through the forums i have found out you get this when you reach your hundredth post. But what got me thinking is that how exacly does the star work. I know if people rate your conversation positivly then your star rating will go up. But what if people dont rate them at all? does this have an effect? I have read through the FaQ and could not find this but if i missed it please let me know and then i am sorry in advance for posting this. For those of you who already have their stars what does your star mean to you?? and does it fluctuate alot or does it tend to stay the same number. Sorry there are just so many questions i have about this star as it is something new to me and i dont want to mess anything up early on otherwise i will have to spent alot of time fixing the bad. Anyways thanks in advance for all your help and i am hoping someone will be able to answer some or all of my questions, cheers Plunt

Hi Pluntt, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Keep your quality posts coming and you'll be a blue star in no time!! If the person doesn't rate you, then it stays unchanged. That's why i try to rate all my discussions. Those with 1 line comments, how do i rate them? I normally leave them alone unrated. But that's up to you. All the best Pluntt!! - Lyn

Congratulations on your 100th post, Pluntt! The star is your myLot reputation. The higher it is, the more members are giving you pluses on your responses/discussions/comments. If you're not being rated, I think it stays the same somehow, unless you're being rated negative for so many times, then your star-rating lowers. Mine has never fluctuated. I started from 7 then went smoothly up to 9. It got stuck to 9 for like a month (I think I was inactive at the time, that's why). Hey, if you want to know your exact rating out of 100, you can move your cursor to the star and you will see it (especially if you're using Internet Explorer, because I heard that Mozilla won't register that). Mine is 96/100. Pluntt, as long as you follow the rules and give quality discussions and responses, everything will be fine. Cheers! Happy myLotting!

alright great, i was using firefox (i think the old version on this laptop) and could not see it when i hovered over but i will try internet explorer in a bit. Just makes me curious what else i may be missing since im using firefox. Guess i will find that all out in a few mins time. Anyways thanks for all the detailed info. I am also glad to hear that your rating hasnt gone down. I guess i am happy that i started at 8 rather than 7 :). but either way your still beating m. I guess i will get some really good responses and hope to join you lot of 10ers soon. Anyways thanks cheers Plunt

Hi Pluntt! Well first of all I would congratulate you being a star. You have a good one and don't worry it will be better after a while if you keep on posting and responding. Just rate others with a + and definitely others will do for you too. Well, if you do not rate others I don't so something happen to yours rating. Rating is affected when somebody rates your discussion. If you discontinue rating, I think others will also do the same and then how somebody will guage the quality? Don't worry while asking some little questions too. It provides others to post more and give the best. All the best for coming days.

yep definatly, but i wouldnt want to be blaimed for faking but ofcourse those people with usless discussions i try to avoid all together because i dont feel i should waste me time on people would couldnt take a few extra mins to write something meaningful. apart from that the responses i have seen have all been helpful, thus i conclude they are all possative. :) cheers Plunt
