Where was the Titanic heading to when it met its wreck at sea?

I like watching that tragic movie the titanic-so many people lost their lives and I believe, it was one of the greatest ships both in terms of size and design the world had ever seen. But I would like to know, where it was going or where it was coming from.

The Titanic was headed for New York. The latest Titanic movie is only about fictional romantic tale of a rich girl and poor boy who meet on the ill-fated voyage of the 'unsinkable' ship, it's a love story and the location is the Titanic.
