Boy, MSN is really hitting my personal nail on the head this week. An article linked to today's front page talks about folks who take care of their parents and kids. Although I don't have children, when my husband and I first got married we lived with his parents. When his father died, his mother was unable, financially, to live on her own. As the oldest son, she is my husband's responsibility. So she lives with us, or we live with her. Depends on who you ask. But it could easily be my mother living with us as well, as my mother is no longer married and I am her only child. A few years ago my mother was very ill. She was in intensive care for quite a while, was hospitalized and later moved to a convalescent hospital. She was under professional care for over 2 months, and at home recovering for another month. I was the one who visited her in the hospital, then went to her house to take care of it and her pets, several times a week. My worst nightmare at that time was that my mother would not be able to live on her own any longer and she would need to live with me and my husband and his mother.
