How old do they normally test for allergies? I know that the doc did not want to say for sure that he had allergies back when he was a year old but now. .He's constantly got a runny nose (clear) and so does his brother who is four months old. His allergies turn into full blown colds which then turn into ear infections. I want him on somthing like singular so we can prevent all this sickness.

My son is five now, but when he was an infant he fought the runny nose and broncitis, ear infections ect.....It was decided then that he had allergies, year round in fact. They put him on claritin and he does so much better, I have to keep a humidifier on all the time, and we cut back on the stuffed animals (due to the dust factor).
They wanted to do the allergie testing on him, but that requires a series of needles in his back, and since the claritin keeps his allergies under control, I can't see doing that to my child...
My daughter is now on claritin as well, she has exema and breaks out at the mear sight of anything with fragrance, so our doctor put her on claritin, and it actually helps....she's only 2....We get the over the counter claritin at walmart, And they both are doing great on it.

Go to the doctor, having cld that bad does need more investingation. what is your climatic conmditions, do you suspect airconditioning r dust mite. they
are most common reasons. I suggest give him ginger juice mixed with honey not to the four month old but older one as soon as colds starts or you can use a pinch of black pepper powder mixed with honey to get some relief. you can give steam of vicks too for running nose.Use a vaporiser for that this you can give to your four month old too. these are all home remedies but do get him checked with the doctor too.
