Can you re-phrase this statement in your own words? "Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones."

the whole sentence is those who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others-it means people who have their own share of devastating secrets or have weaknesses should not point fingers at others as they themselves are not secure enough to face the rough weather brought in by the other.

My mom used to use this expression quite a bit... and the ironic thing was that she was often someone in the proverbial "glass house." I'm not sure of the origin of the phrase, in a historical context, although some attribute it to Geoffrey Chaucer, in the 14th century. For me, what this essentially means is to not criticize others (or try to change them) on account of behaviors that are an issue for you. It's a bad idea to attack others for things you're vulnerable to. It's another way of saying "don't be a hypcrite." For example, if you have a problem with anger, telling a friend they "need to get anger management" would be throwing a stone ("criticism") at a friend, while you are vulnerable ("glass house") to the very same issue.

To me it means you do not tell other people not to do something that you do yourself. If you are a person who dislikes beong treated a certain way, then do not treat others that way. Treat people as the way you would like to be treated. If you throw stones, expect to get a stone thrown at you?
