Mission Impossible?? Bridesmaids dresses for all of us?

Ok, one of my good friends is renewing her vows Labor Day weekend. Her and her husband got married before her husband left for Iraq and now they're having the whole white dress ceremony thing! They are getting married on a dock near a beach at a state park and the plan is that the men will be wearing tuxes. The colors for the wedding are black and white with a red accent. We are having problems finding bridesmaids dresses (I'm the matron of honor) that will fit all of us and our low budgets. We are looking for a nice somewhat modest dress hopefully around $50-$75 and the all important "something we can wear again". It should be black and some of the girls have discussed buying sundresses. Do you think that bridesmaids in sundresses can accompany men in tuxes? Also, of the four bridesmaids one is very "chesty" and one is pretty "flat" ... the smallest girl is a size 8 and the biggest girl is a size 16. I must admit that we're all very beautiful!! LOL! But, finding a dress that flatters our diverse body types is difficult. We all prefer dress lengths below the knee or at least at the knee. Any ideas for a dress that might compliment us all and still be nice enough to compliment men in tuxes?? Feel free to leave links of dresses that you believe would fit our needs, but don't spam me your bridal shower business! Thanks for you're help, we sure need it!!!

I can't suggest anything for ready-made dresses, but have you considered making them or having them made? A simple A-line dress is easy to make and will suit all figure types. Relief could be added (and also cover-up for figure problems) with a jacket with a fine white stripe. If the jacket had a shaped closure it would make it more formal and a red rose could be worn on the lapel. An alternative to the A-line, and just as simple to make, would be a dress with the skirt pleated from the hip-line. This is very flattering to the larger figure and looks very nice on the smaller. Here in Australia, pleating is quite reasonably priced, but if pleating was a problem, a flare from the hip line is another alternative.

I think that in todays society, bridesmaids are wearing sundresses and look really well with tuxs at their arms. I hope you have fun. It is hard to find a dress that is formal enough for a wedding and that you can wear again later too.

I am wondering since the dresses are to be black if indeed then they have to all be alike? I mean with black the styles can vary and still be very classic and classy, and still the differences are not so apparent.
