im a Chinese.so i think i would be the very person to clear up your doubt.First,u have to distinguish the term "dinosaur" and "dragon" ,dinosaru existed before 60 million years ago, however dragon is just a creation of human's imagination.

LOL well thanks for you post, but I think we all know what a dinosaur is / was. :-) And yes of course Dragons have never existed, I were just curious about how many people really thought they had...

If they did exist it was in a time when people did not stray very far from home and the world was still a place full of mystery. Story tellers liked to make things much more fanciful. So the creature's characteristics got embellished. I think that dragons in stories nowadays, that are massive, fire-breathing, flying monsters did not exist. It is great to read the stories about them in our safety though. I am glad I did not live when they might have.

I have watched several dragon movies and some documentaries in discovery channel on the origin of dragons, but I was never too sure about their existence in real life. Most of the dragons are believed to come from China. So,perhaps a Chinese friend of mine can enlighten me on dragons more than books can tell.

I think the issue is settled. Dragons are the creation of human imagination. It is evident from the fact that in no encyclopedia dragons are included in the zoology section, not even as an extinct species.

Okay here is a point that I would like to ask those who think Dragons dont exist. It was brought up by the Discovery channel on their Sci Fi special Dragons Made real. Their point it how come several cultures that were so far apart had Dragons in their myths and culture. Dragons that had similar features from Mayan to Aztec, Chinese to Japanese, Polynesian to Europeans. Now exploration during those times were limited and Aztec and Mayans were isolated from the rest of the world so were the Polynesians. So how come they have similar visions about these creatures. The way that discovery channel told the story was a bit compelling yes. But I do know its fictional but the evidences and arguements they tackled were factual. Another example Dragon's myths and habits were scientifically sound in most parts of the story even for natural history professors like my old prof. He told me after watching the show it was indeed mind bogling. May be they existed May be they didnt but surely there was a creature that all of these cultures saw that brought to life their beliefes I mean most myths come from reality. So could it be a dinosaur once lived years ago and was later mistaken as a Dragon just like a manatee was mistaken for a mermaid?
