Call it a piggy bank, change jar or whatever. The point is to put spare change from time to time into this container for savings.
If you have a lot of cash or change make a habit of putting some of it away everyday. DO NOT USE THE CHANGE JAR FOR SPENDING. This ruins the whole process.
Once you have raised a nice amount
1)Go to a shop
2)Receive the cash
3)Check the cash
4)Deposit all the cash into your bank
5)Keep 20% of the money for spending purposes
This has to be the most simplest way of saving money.

My wife and I empty our pockets every night and put the change into a piggy bank. We save two dollar coins for our children's allowance, but the rest of it goes into our bank. Every three or four months we can count up $75 or more and deposit it in our bank account.
