"The Namesake"--Have you seen this movie yet? I looks so good. It is about a couple who have an arranged married. They move to NYC and have a son. The son struggles between his parent's ideas and life in NYC. Kal Penn is the son. He is so handsome! The woman who plays his mother is beautiful. I do not know if any of you have arranged marriages in your family. My husbands parents had an arranged marriage and his grandparents and so on. They are still married. My mother has friends who have an arranged marriage and they are still married. My girlfriend who is from India, her marriage and her parents marriage--all arranged. What do you think of arranged marriages? My husband and I have a friend whose mother is looking for a wife for him.

No I haven't seen the movie, and I don't personally know of someone which had a arranged marriage. I am such a hopeless romantic, I don't think it will work for me:)) But what is interesting they all are lasting marriages!!!

My husband said that in these marriages that they start out as the families have respect for each other. Then the two people involved do. Then comes love and then hot feelings.

I haven't seen this movie, but it sounds good. I have heard that arranged marriages work out very well for a large percentage of the time. It's not for me though. I grew up with the notion of finding your soul-mate, and romantic love. I've been married for 35 years now, so it seems to be working for me so far.
