I am deeply concerned about the reports on contaminated dog foods and biscuits. I thought it was time to share a recipe I have used in the past and that my dog loves! I also make these as gifts for friends to give to their dogs. Let me know how your dog likes them. Dog Biscuits 1 egg 1/2 cup cold water 2-1/2 cups whole wheat flour 1 teaspoon each sugar & salt 1/2 cup non-fat dry milk-powder 6 tablespoons of margarine (Flavor ingredients of your choice - 3 tablespoons liver powder, or bouillion, or dried soup greens, or dried soup mix.) I only buy the bouillion that doesn't have msg added. Many of these ingredients can be purchased in the bulk section. Mix ingredients. Kneed for 3 minutes. Dough should form a ball. Roll to 1/2 inch thick and cut into shapes. Bake on a lightly greased cookie sheet for 30 minutes at 350 degrees F. I have dog bone shaped cookie cutters but any shape will do and a small heart is wonderful. I also poke the center of each biscuit with a fork before baking. This is a fun project to do with the kids and pass along.

These make nice homemade gifts. I made two batches today, one of beef flavored and one of chicken flavored. My dog came running when he smelled them. I tried them on a neighbor's fussy dog and the dog begged for more. There are no mystery animal parts in these biscuits and they are safe enough for us to eat, not that I would eat dog biscuits. Give them a try!

LOL I'll have to make sure I put them in a "DOGS ONLY" bag or container cause my kids will eat anything ;-) LOL seriously though, thanks so much for posting this..We ended up throwing out the brand new bag of treats we've been giving our dogs just cause we're not goin to take the chance anymore ya know...I love my pets and would be ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED if something happened to them....

I'm like you loujac3. I'm so concerned about this pet food issue I won't buy any more pet food in cans or doggy treats for a while. I'm going to use your recipe and see if my pooch likes them. I'll let you know. thanks so much for the recipe.
