Age appropriate chores

At what age do you begin giving your children responsibilities? How much is too much? When do you start holding them accountable for getting them done with consequences? Lets talk about it!

My son just turned two so we make a game of throwing the toys into the toybox. Sometimes he pulls them right back out, but he is getting the idea. I don't think that I'll add to his chore list for a few years. :) My sister has an eight-year-old who has to clean off the table and an eleven-year-old who has to empty the dishwasher and put away the dishes. Both boys are required to keep their room clean.

My kids are teenagers now so they are capable of doing their own laundry, cleaning up their rooms and taking out the garbage. They don't always do it, but I try to keep them in line because responsibility is important so they learn to take care of themselves. My daughter also helps prepare some of the meals as well.

my son has been helping since he was 2..lol..i started with making a game of picking up his toys..we would toss them like basketball in his toy box..and when he was 3 he asked to help me sweep the carpets..dishes,and wipe down the tables..now hes 4 and he does everything..cleans his room and toys,dishes,sweeping,laundry,cleaning the tub lol..he loves helping me..and i have started an allowance of $3..enough for his 3 hot wheels cars a month lol..
