My mom has never been a clean woman. She was a pig when she lived with my hubby and I. She would through her clothes on the floor and not pick them up and then refuse to bath. She is now in a skilled nursing facillity she got to where she was laying in bed 23.5 hours a day and demanding me to wait on her hand and foot. I could not take care of her anymore. Mom give up living at the age of 59 and stoped caring for herself then. She lived with my family and I for 10 years. Mom does have arthritis in her one hip, knees and shoulders. She refused to get joint replacement. She ate herself up to 400lbs at 5ft 2ins tall. I digress. She now says that at the home she is in the bathroom is "full" all the time and so she lays in bed and pees the bed. Can you believe that. She is so gross. I pick up her laundry twice a week and boy does it stink. She then gets up and won't let the aids help her. I spoke to the aids and now they are checking on mom to make sure she is dry. Well I got chewed out today, because I told the aids mom was wet. I then had to talk to mom about how bad she smelled and about how she should not lay in bed and wet her self. Mom refuses bathes but only once a week, and only lets them change she sheets only once a week. I know mom has been sitting in her own urine because she is to lazy to get up. I know this sounds bad and calloused but I know my mom. Mom has always taken the easy way out. It has always been someones elses fault. Mom has never taken responsibility for her actions. I feel I should not have to tell my mom to keep her self clean or to get up off her lazy butt and go the bath room.

I am so sorry you are going through this. That Nursing facility needs to take a little more responsibility in this and tell her at her weight she needs a daily bath. I am bigger then I should be I am still young and I get a bath every morning every day I get home from work and everynight before I go to bed because I know bigger people tend to sweat more even if your not doing anything. I hope it all works out for you and you can get some help from the staff their.

I forgot to tell you mom now has lost 100lbs in two years because she is on a hunger strike, when she cannot beg someone to bring food in for her. I need not to be so upset at having to be the adult in the relationship. I do have an older sister who mom idolizes who is not had to lift a finger for mom and a twin sister who mom hates. I guess I am the lucky one mom tolerates me.

Nope, i never talk with my parents about lack of personal hygiene as they are very clean and conservative people. They don't actually let their selves to not take a bath for sometimes. They always take a bath like everyday and they are very clean in the house. They are also a strict people when it comes to cleanliness. Cheers and have a nice day ahead from Francis.
