What is your opinion about those songs out there that try too look cool by abusing religion, christ, etc.? You know, most of the rock and metal music out there are dark. I'm a christian and believe in christ, but unfortunately, i'm addicted to heavy metal music, and an amateur heavy metal guitarist, and most of my favourite bands like Metallica, A Perfect Circle, Slipknot, HIM, etc. belong to this category.. I love these bands for their music, but hate them for their vision! What should i do? I can't give up my religion, should i give up my music then?

So what, it's just music...if lyrics could shake your beliefs, then everything else can. If you listen to HIM, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth or any other darkish band, it's not like you're doing satanic ceremonies, drinking goat's blood, singing jingle bells backwards or something, it's ridiculous to be bonded with every action that's associated to them and you don't even know if they're serious or not...but if that really REALLY concerns you, there is a lot of christian rock/metal available on the music market too :)

what do you mean "it's just music". Maybe you don't know that MUSIC HAS MORE INFLUENCE THAN LYRICS.. lyrics is just literally a poem, give music to a poem then it's a song.. i'm also listening to a heavy metal songs as well heavy metal (worldly) and heavy metal (christians). Listen very well to thier music ignore the lyrics first.. you'll see even it's both heavy metal or dark or something what you call it there is a very big difference... once you realize and heard that difference then you were not just listening to thier music, your listening to the soul of the musicians, and when you do that you'll see most worldly heavy metals or dark music is worshiping the devil...

People that listen to heavy metal don't listen to the words! Are you crazy? Seriously though. You have to follow your own feelings on that. I like a lot of different types of music. Most of the bands on your list are pretty cool. I also enjoy Type O Negative. Their lyrics are dodgy even to me, a non Christian. I don't think there's anything wrong with dark/metal music in general. Most of them are trying to get attention with their "bad" lyrics anyway.

I enjoyed listening to their music before and but never on those loud and almost void lyrics. I just don't like too much of those deafning sounds. If you listen to music like this make sure you are supporting those bands with no bad intentions on their lyrics. There are still musicians that play the same genres like these bands but don't make messages against religion, race and belief. We need to understand that not all we enjoy are the right things to accept as part of our life. We have our own decisions and will to make our choice. So choose the better things that will not make your conscience fight against you.

Rock rules - Rock rules the world
I don't think for one moment there is anything wrong in your enjoying your music hun, to my mind it certainly isn't "dark" in that way. I think back to the time Elvis was pilloried for being lewd, and The Beatles being accused of "rude" lyrics, so rock and roll has always been regarded as "bad" in some way or other. You stick with it hun, rock rules.

hi.. i love music so much that i love any kind of music, blues, pop, jazz, rock, western music, heavy rock, heavy metal, etc. etc. etc. but uhm.. when it comes to dark music before i listen to it i'm searching to the purpose and meaning of thier band cause some bands, specialy dark bands are of the devil and i dont want that, just like A.C.D.C w/c they truelly mean is "anti.christ.devil.come".. you see not every good bands are naturaly good, like the band i told you, their talents came from the devil and used by the devil to influence other musician to worship the devil..

I am fine with dark music. I don't seek them out but I do listen to them from time to time. I am not a Christian so I guess I won't have a need to feel uneasy. :P

What u mean Dark Music? Like Heavy Metal music, those really noisy and like no lyrics at all and they just wanna scream? or those music that has a dark side like the what the lyrics wants to say in some dark songs? Well, you have to choose between one of them indeed, whether your religion or your music. Well i think, Religion is the most important. And if you have a strong faith on what your religion really believe in, you really don't have to choose. Just go to your religion and minimize your music habits. That's all i can say.

Hey there! try to stay away from dark music, because it kills your spiritual life and you know a christian who is not spiritual can be hit by the devil anytime. I do not like it.
