does anyone else feel this way? to me she was way too angsty. yes i know saving the world from ultimate destruction is a big job, but the "oh woe is me" act got tired kinda quickly.

Awww....poor Buffy. While I will agree that she can be annoying and a little whiny at times....she is carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders...literally during the various apocolypses. She just has so much responsibility laid on her. And then once Season 6 hit she even had to take on raising her sister, and trying to pay bills all alone. I always wondered if Willow paid her rent :-) That said, I think the other characters are also really interesting and lend a lot to the show (althoguh I find Dawn to be super annoying...but I guess she's supposed to be). Buffy is definitely a show where the whole cast is important and support the show, rather than just the main characters. I especially love Xander, Anya, Spike, and Andrew.

yeah, dawn's like the cousin oliver on the show. just brought in to have something for the other characters to paly off, not really substantive at all.

I agree with you that I felt sorry for her at times. However, I hated that everyone felt so bad for poor Buffy because she actually had to live in the real world and work when Xander started doing it in season four and they made fun of him losing his jobs. They acted like just cause they were in college and he was the "towny" that they were somehow better than him. I know they were all friends and they all loved each other and each one of them has a bad characteristic as well as the good ones but still, I wish there had been one time when Xander had finally blown up and said, "Stop the whining, Buff! I've been working for two years now!"

What really bugged me about Buffy was how she would whine and complain that she didn't want all the pressure of being the "Chosen One" but whenever she thought she wasn't the only one anymore she got jealous. When Kendra showed up, she was jealous. When Faith showed up, she was really jealous. And when she was put through that test and lost all of her powers she was begging Giles to help her get her strength back. So I always felt like saying, "Make up your mind for once and for all!"

I actually always felt sorry for her because she seemed the stereotypical 'dumb blond'. You knew she wasn't really because she is a successful actress and had been around long before Buffy. I always thought ANdrew, who was as angsty and woe as me as you could get, was hilarious, too.

I agree that the other characters are more interesting, but I still admire Buffy. I especially felt for her in the season seven episode Bring on the Night. Everyone was putting so much pressure on her. I really hated Giles in that episode. Surely he, with his big brain, could have found another solution.

i really couldn't stand buffy at all and got hooked up with the show despite her. she was so annoying for me, so cocky, self righteous and plain dumb. i really don't like sarah michelle gellar either. i think she only has the looks that so many people like but i think her so called acting is a disaster, so devoid of any expression..

That is so true with her. She was very self rightous and also very much into the self pity all at the same time. I agree that the other characters were far more interesting. I liked them more then her. It wasn't the acting or the actress at fault but the writers. It got really bad though once Dawn was on the show. They seemed to make her even more of the "Poor me" thing and also very much "I am right no matter what". It was irritating and it caused me to lose interest in the last season. I had to catch it on reruns later on because I got sick of listening to her.
