we work in a Grocery Store we are stupid? Especially when it comes to wanting refunds on certain things. I never had a problem refunding a customer's money if they were not satisfied with a product. But the instances where they wanted a refund because they did something wrong usually made me a little peeved off. Example 1: A lady brought back a turkey carcass the day after Thanksgiving. There was absolutely not one piece of meat left on it. She complained it was too dry and they couldn't eat it. Well, someone cleaned that turkey!!! It was too dry because she cooked it too long and it dried out. Since the customer is always right (:P ) we gave her another turkey. She originally wanted her money back, but had no receipt. When the store manager told her if we weighed the turkey carcass, that is the amount she would receive per lb. She didn't like that so she took another turkey. Example 2: A woman brought in a beef brisket that she had cooked. She complained about the seasoning that was on it. Well, she seasoned that brisket herself. Yet, she was demanding a refund. We weighed the brisket and gave her her money back. Why? Because the customer is always right!!:P The store team enjoyed a very delicious beef brisket for lunch that day. Example 3: A woman was cleaning out her kitchen cabinets for Passover. Apparently, she needed to get rid of her old cans and replace them with newer ones. The cans she brought in to us were product that we had stopped carrying and making, as a store brand, over 7 years ago. She told me she just purchased them a week ago. I asked her for her receipt and she said she never saves them. I went through the process of trying to find the prices in our system. Of course, they weren't there. When I told her we stopped carrying thaose products 7 years ago, she basically called me a liar and demanded to see the Store Manager. He backed me up and told the woman that we hadn't carried those brands for over 7 years. But, he allowed her to replace those old cans with our new store brand. Why? Because the customer is always right!:P Now, as you can tell, the customer is not always right. They think they got away with something because of the stupid people that work in the store. We were not stupid! We knew exactly what the customer was doing. We let them know, in our way, that we knew what they were doing. We also knew that people like that usually tell their friends that we took care of them when they had a problem and those friends might possibly drop their money in our store. Stupid? No, good for business.

wow, some people are always looking for something for free. Shame on them. The other customers have to pay for their greed.

Yes,if this happened all the time, they would. These are just a few instances that I saw in my 28 years at this company. The nice customers far outweighed the bad.

Gotta keep the customer happy hey? I work in a supermarket, although i work on the store floor and customers think that we know everything. They think were able to memorise were everything is exactly, even certain brands of things. And some of them get really touchy if you cant fully answer them

I knew the store layout quite well. I always hated it when we did an aisle reset and things were moved around. Sometimes I could give exact directions to a customer, if I couldn't take them there myself. When they would come back to tell me it wasn't where I said it was, then I would go to the exact spot I told them the product was located. Then they would say, " Boy, I must be blind!". Well, maybe so.

Nope, it was devoured by all us hungry folks. We bought some nice rolls and made sandwiches out of it. She seasoned it with garlic and it was delicious!
