5 hours? You're kidding. You can irritate your eyes, but "radiation" it's not. What you get is transmitted light frequencies, not EM radiation. Can affect the optic nerve, because the light that comes from the TV can be very bright, like on special effects, etc. More dangerous by far is sitting like an invalid in a chair or lying down for that length of time. You can damage posture, and for people who aren't healthy, it makes them a lot less healthy. Doesn't help circulation, breathing, or anything else much. Human beings aren't designed to be that inactive. Psychologically and mentally, it's claimed to be depressing, as well as having an effect on your ability to concentrate. "Healthy" TV is watching things you really enjoy, or things that really have you interested. 5 hours of things that make you sick? Who needs it?

Deffinetely not. I think that 5 hrs is too much. For me even 2 hrs i a lot. I watch tv not more than an hr,depends waht I'm watching. Yes it really damages your eyes and it's not good for your brain, too. Stop watching telly that much!Don't you have anything better to do, like something usefull? And it's not just the tv it's the same for computers.

Yeah, i know it's too much. I stopped doing that now too. But computers it's kind hard to do..LOL. It's because i worked on computer analysist everyday. That means i had to be in front of computer all the time. But now I manage to keep my eyes on computer all the time. Take a rest about half hour from it, and watch computers only for 2 hours the most.

Anytime you sit that long infront of something electronic, it will begin to tear your body down. As said before the other problem is you sat down and did nothing for 5 hours. Ouch. Believe me dont start that, It is harder to lose the weight once you have put it on.

Nothing is safe anymore. Not just Television. Scientists are finding new ways of researching about anything and everything. From coffee to vegetables to seasoning. What used to be healthy may not be after scientists get their hands on it. As for television, just don't sit to close to the T.V. set. Unless you can live without it. I know I can't.

I am not sure about this radiation thing you are mentioning about but I am pretty sure watching more than 5 hours isn't good if doing this is damaging your work and those things that needed to be done. If you are procrastinating on doing things because you want to just watch all your favorite shows all day then that's not good.

Watching television or using computer for some hours is not good for your eyes and body. They are emitting powerful electro-magnetic radiation. These radaition can mutate our living cells, leading to cancer and other disease.

TV doesn't emit any radiation. Don't know where you might have heard that one! I think the biggest harm is that people tend to eat in front of the TV and don't get any exercise while they're watching.

No it isn't good. In the good old days they used to say that watching too much TV used to burn up your brain cells and kill your thirst for both action and adventure. I actually think so. I agree with Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple and Pixar, that TV is one of the most harmful inventions of the new age as it keeps people glued at the idiot box without doing anything at all!! Cheers! Ram

as they say, anything in excess is bad. it is not advisable to stay longer and watch tv for continuous number of hours for this really damages your eyes. too much use of anything deteriorates that part that is being used like your eyes. i agree that too much radiation from tv gives you health risks.

Nothing is safe anymore. Not just television. I think it's because of the technological advancements. Scientists are researching everything that may be harmful, from coffee to vegetables, to seasoning. Personally, it is hard for me to watch television for less than 5 hours. Especially if it is one good show after another. I guess all we can do is don't sit too close to the TV set.
