“People used to make fun of me when I was a teen because I had very small breasts. It just brought my self-esteem down to an ultimate low. Then i went in to my local cosmetic surgeon and he said I was a prime candidate for breast implants. I was over joyed. I used to be an "A" but now i am a "C" because of the surgery. It changed my life forever. So to all you people out there: Breast implants are the way to go!! “ - Michelle S. this was the story of Michelle S. I am sure there are hundreds of michelles. Ppl just love to be perfect, but I would never want to be under scissors no matter what. That doesn’t mean that I am perfect, I have innumerable imperfections, but I know how to live with that, actually, I am never too bothered. I feel beauty is more from within and from without. so friends, Would you like to be under scissors to have your nose job done?? or may be a: face lift Liposuction breast augmentation rhinoplasty birthmark removal BOTOX therapy Tummy tuck………

Nope, I can't anymore even if I was to be the next Tyra Banks. I had already been under the knife three times, for giving birth and surgery. And it is not fun really. I was scared the first time, when I gave birth to my eldest. But my relatives used to say, don't be afraid the second time is more scary. I didn't believe them but eventually when I gave birth for the second time. My Gosh! I really wanted to cry. It is more scary because you know all the steps to the procedures, the throbbing pain of having a needle injected in your spine. The chilling effect of the anesthesia running through your system which gives you an unvoluntary shaking and your teeth can stop. And to cut the story short, there is also the pain of recovery. The third time was when I had my gall stones removed. So imagine I had to undergo three major surgery. And just to be beautiful, I can't. It would be to ...I can't even find the words for that situation. And adding, the uncertainty of "after" beautification procedures, that would be very difficult. And I heard those implants sag too with aging. So, I can't my friend Mimpi. It is too scary and painful. (^^,)

i really appreciate. i haven't been under scissors as yet but i know i must be terrible being in the OT. you are a brave soul. you have added another important point to this discussion. the after effects of unsuccessful surgeries and the uncertanties tagged with is even more scary. i have heard of ppl suffering from faulty administration of BOTOX. that's scary indeed!. thanx for sharing and God bless.

Yah, I have seen documentary about faulty botox. The results is gross and painful. The way their bodies react to the implant is awful. So it really would made you think twice before putting something foreign into your body. Because the side effects especially the bad ones irreversible. (^^,)

I just don't really care about "vanity surgery." I can understand someone having a particularly pronounced birthmark on their face removed, especially if they work in the public sector with clients, and they feel uncomfortable. I have known someone like the "Michelle" in your example-- she really believed her life would change, if she had implants. But the truth of the matter is (and I kept telling her this) that changing the outside "package" really doesn't change who we are, as a person. I feel like many of the "Michelles" of the world are trying to gain "self-esteem by surgery"... but self-esteem is actually something that comes from inside, from the SELF. Plastic surgery? I think (in 90% of cases) it just gives people a "different container" to keep the same old person in.

well said, as always. i liked that container thing, it's so lucidly explained. i feel, corrective cosmetic surgery is just like any other energency surgery and "vanity surgery" is just a fancy to enhance looks. thanx for sharing

I had rhinoplasty and I do not regret it. Yeah it hurt a lot and recovery sucked for me having stuff crammed into my nose for awhile was not pleasant. However that was many years ago and I figure that I wanted it done and that small bit of discomfort was worth it for many eyars of happiness. People didn't make fun of me nor did they ever mention that I had a problem with my nose. I did it to satisfy myself.

i think there is no "perfect person" and people has to deal with this fact and ask themselfs why are they so botered by their external image. is this the real problem? or would solving this problem would be only a temporary solution to a problem deep inside that they have not dealt with. ofcourse all of us want to be beautiful and when we look at a person we do first see his external image. but still, there are questions to be asked here. i think a person should work on accepting himself before he or she is trying to use those 'scissors'. if after asking a few questions and answering them he still feels that this action would help him or her, i say go for it. i can tell you that if i was very fat and did a diet in which i lost alote of pounds and i have a problem of alote of loose sking or somthing, i would try to live with it and deal with it and just after a certain period of time that i dealt with it if i still feel i really need that surgery i would go for it. so generally no i won't go for any of those cosmetic operation. but i do know quite a few people that did it and are very satisfied. so i guess it all depends on the person and how he see's his problems solved with scissors or with inner work on himself

liranlgo, we have different ppl with different state of mind and different threshold of emotions and sensitivity. some donot requireenhancement in the way they loo and some die od depression without it. the latter becomes a case of medical urgency and it would be justified in doing an OT. but just for the sake of lokking more beautiful, i would have not approved of this ever. thank you.

I'm happy enough with what God and my genes have given me. I'm far from perfect, but seem to be aging well, so I don't think I'll bother with any of the many and varied cosmetic procedures that more and more men seem to be having done on themselves. I've always looked after myself reasonably well, and I think that that is finally beginning to work in my favour - I see people who're younger than me but who've had a 'fun packed' life, shall we say, who're beginning to look a little rough around the edges! Be yourself - most of us have no reason to reach for a surgeon. Leave these operations for people who really need them to recover from accidents and disfigurements. And even then, many people are happy with how they look - because they have confidence, self-respect and self-esteem, and that's what matters.

i couldnot agree more with you. while corrective surgeries are necessary for normal living, i feel, cosmetic surgeries are just curbing our self esteem and confidence. we have so many good things within ourselves, why not dig and reinvent those rather than scissoring to outer perfection?? rated +

While I would lawyas like to look better, and to age gracefully, I think I would rather not do anything that would require a knife or a needle. I can see why people do it, and it is fine for others, but I am nor a fan of surgical intervention under very manycircumnstances. I would rather exercise, eat and sleep well and make the best of what I have naturally.

that makes two of us, woody. even i feel that we should age gracefully and a little discipline and daily beauty regime and positive thinking can do wonders!! and ofcourse someone with such a beautiful heart shouldn't even bother about it, isn't it!

No I wouldn't as I just accept the way I am No disrespect or wanting to offend anyone but I always say People have to love me the way I am if I have anything done that is not me, it would seem false to me But I do know that a lot of People do it now and good luck to them I am also not brave with Hospitals and definatly not Surgeries.

I am not perfect and I love myself this way. I know I have a thing or two that needs fixing, but it doesn't bother me at all so I just let it be. I just do things to improve the way I look and enhance my best features. But to go under the knife and scissors? Well, it's not for me. I'm not comfortable with changing anything with my body other than the losing and gaining weight cycle I'm going through all my life. True beauty is from within, and if one is beautiful on the inside, it will shine. But I respect others people's choice to go under surgery. If it will make them more confident about themselves and will help them lead a better life, then maybe they should go for it. We are all responsible for the choices we make and we know what's best and what will work for us.

No way, I would like to undergo any cosmatic surgery. Whatever has been given to me ...whatever I am it is God's gift... and I do not feel like changing it. People have to accept me as it is.

No, I think this is wrong. I feel that you should not do anything of that sort to your body unless you really need to. If it is a "serious defect", ok, fine. But if you already look normal enough and just want to look even more supermodel, that just doesn't seem right... Of your examples, face lift and botox seem ok though... nothing too intrusive. :P

lordwarwizard, quest for perfection is endless and eternal, can you tell me where is the limit and where to draw a line ? there is no end to this quest. i would better leave it in hands of God.

if it makes me feel better, why not. but right now, i'm happy with the way things are. liposuction would help but i'm still happy with the way i look and i don't wanna change anything. it's so easy to say not to plastic surgery but when we're old and wrinkly, we might change our mind. as long as you feel good about yourself, then, to each his own.

i really appreciate, agree partly though. i guess, when i get old i would embark on my inner treasures rather than my outer assets. it wouldnot be easy though to live on with wrinkles and fats , but i guess, it would never curb my interest in real thing. however, having said this, it all depends on the individual and happiness is subjective.

I am planning to sometime after my kids are older go in and have a boob job because I am a 46 D regularly and I go to a 46 F when I am at the end of my pregnancy and nursing and no one told me that my boobs would be near my belly button when I was done with the first one not to mention the 2nd or 3rd which I plan on nursing the 3rd one too. Other than that I am debating after I lose a bunch of weight to go and have a tummy tuck. It just depends on how I look after I can lose at least 100lbs.

I wouldn't even think of it. I like myself for who I am though, I have said to my friends before that if ever I'm going to undergo surgery, it would be to remove my eyebags. But I think they now have a non-intrusive way of doing that. I'm really scared of the side effects of surgery.

i really appreciate. as denmarkguy has rightly pointed out that these surgeries are vanity surgeries which change the packaging of the person. the real self still remains the same. thanx
