What makes me like to have a turtle for a pet? There are alot of things that makes owning a pet turtle attractive these are: 1. Every one thinks that turtles are very slow. They are not. They are slow when they are still in the pet shop for the following reasons, stressfull environment, shallow water, exposed to various sickness, too noisy, no food, or too cold. Proper care of the turtles will bring out an active and very witty pet and a fast hunter. 2. Turtle is one of the animals that after reaching maturity, aging stops. They don't die similar to humans, we die of old age. Technically, turtles reaching maturity say 4 or 5 years have the same strength as that of a 100 year old turtle. For as humans, our strength decline with age. 3. Each turtle has its own attitude. Others may snap at you, or make hissing sound, others just hide their heads under the shell or others just try to run away from you. 4. Turtles have a good eating habit. Very young turtles they are omnivorous, they eat anything from pellets to worms to beetles to fruits. Adolescent turtles eats alot of protein and vegetables. Adult turtles eats alot of vegetables. Old turtles just eat small proportions every other day. 5. Different paterns on the number and shapes of scutes, different shade of color and very affectionate for the males during courtship with the female. The male will massage the head of the female and the female will doze off to sleep, then the male can copulate with the female. 6. Knows how to hunt fishes, crabs, shrimps, beetles, worms and the like. Turtles do not just chase its prey but analyzes the route the prey takes. 7. The female is always larger than the male and much stronger but the male manage to copulate with the female with his mating dance. 8. A large turtle say CPL of 8" can defend itself from 9 large dogs. My pet turtle have an encounter with our dogs when he accidentally escapes and the dogs suddenly try to catch him. The turtle wins the battle by snapping on the nose of the dogs and bit a portion of their noses. Now the dogs leave the turtle alone when the turtle manages to escapes his enclosure. 9. And lastly although with a shell on its back it still manage to hide in an very secluded places. I lost one of my turtles but manage to retrieve it after 4 months of painstaking putting up a bait and a good basking area. Ferritic

Im not sure why i like turtles. I always wanted one and went looking around a lagoon near my house every summer looking for them when they come out of the water to lat their eggs but never found one. Eventually we finally bought one, so now that i've got one i think i like them because they are funny in the way they walk and they are really entertaining.

I'm not sure what it is about turtles but they are just too cute! I always wanted one as a pet but don't have the time to take care of a tank so I just observe them outside my house. Oh, and the turtles in Finding Nemo, doesn't get any cuter than that!
