best place to buy a used car

i totaled my car last year and have only now begun to consider buying another one. i've gone on yahoo! and one other generic used car site. but i was wondering if there was one site that's generally preferred. i want a site that will give me all the info, price mileage, damage etc...any advice is appreciated.
