Does anyone here have guinea pigs for pets? I currently have 16 and adore every single one. I would love to talk to other people that love their babies like I do mine. My very first guinea pig was a birthday gift from my best friend. I adopted the others over time after researching about them and discovering there are so many homeless, abandoned, neglected and abused babies out there. I would love to hear cute stories about your guinea pig and his or her personality.I am amazed daily at how smart and unique each one of my babies are. My first babies name is Cuddler. He is such a little character. He is a more hyper personality. Because of this lifting him in and out of his cage is nervous business for fear he will fall. We found a solution to that by training him to "get in the box". I cut a hole in a 12 pack soda box just big enough for him to get in but that my hand can still cover the hole after he turns around. All I have to do now is tell him "It's time to play on floor honey, get in the box" and he will run right into his box all excited then peek his head out as if to say "Well hurry mommy! I'm in! I'M IN!" LOL Once I set the box on the floor he shoots out of it like a little dart, popcorning and rumbling like a tiny freght train! LOL

Baby Satin Guinea Pig - One of the two cute piggies I'm fostering.
Hi! It's so cool to see another guinea pig owner on here who has rescued piggies.:) They do love those 12 pack boxes huh? It's like the soda companies designed those for guinea pigs. They're such a great size. I only have 2 currently, both foster piggies. Very cute pigs.

Yeah, the two I have right now are really skittish. But even they'll calm down as I sit and watch TV with them. I usually use pigloos, but sometimes if I'm fostering a lot of piggies I've run out and use the boxes. Or for an animal in quarantine, I often just use soda boxes because they're disposable.

never really understood those little creatures. but i must admit they are cute. ive only seen the ones at the pet stores and those are all freaked out by ppl wanting to touch them. i didnt realize that they "tamed to human touch" as much as you say yours did.
