Cleaning Glass, A Chore I Am Not Good At

Philippines
April 7, 2007 11:02pm CST
I have an aquarium tank at home. After years of service, it is no longer as clear and clean as it used to be. I am now asking you to please tell me how to effectively get rid of the white scales which have accumulated on the glass surface. Since my efforts to clean it failed, I remember that many mylotters are good at this chore considering that most houses in colder climates have glass panels in their homes.

You try to clean the aquarium tank with the muriatic acid so the white scales can clean up but be careful on your eyes. let it stand for a minutes then rinse it with water that's what im using to clean up my aquarium tank.hope this helps.

again, please refrain from using chemicals in cleaning the aquarium. fishes are sensitive to chemicals.

i am not good in cleaning glasses as well. but when i was smaller, i was trained to first wash the glass with soap and water. then rinse it with pure water. after which, you wipe it with some pieces of newspaper to sip off the water leave it clearer than using rags. you can also use the one called kleene liquid. it's effective in cleaning glasses.

Never use soap in cleaning the aquarium including the glass. Use plain water to wash the glass and the whole aquarium. I think the use of Kleen is also not recommended because of the chemicals that may be retained in the glass. Remember you are dealing with fishes here which are very sensitive to chemicals and pH of water.Use scrape pads in cleaning the glass. You can buy this in pet shops.

Hello, maryannemax. I believe you will have to learn from ryanphil, too. It is high time we consider stopping the use of soaps in cleaning the aquarium. Get hold of those scrape pads which they are selling at the pet shops.

I have an aquarium at home and we used it for almost 5 years already.I keep on cleaning it every 2 weeks.Getting rid off the white scales and some green algae on accumulated on the glass is such a difficult one. On my part I used a sand paper to get rid off those stuff. It really works and my hard word paid off because the glass is already clean.

Using sand paper to remove the scales is a good idea. Thank you, romel, for sharing with me this information. Perhaps sand paper can be used also to remove the stubborn dirt and stains which cling to the areas in the house which are exposed to water.

I used "KLEEN". A branded name for glass cleaning, It wipes out even stubborn dirts and stains in your glass. I use newspaper for wiping the stains. Try it.

Yes, I will buy Kleen during our next visit to the supermarket. I have already heard about newspapers good at making glass sparkle. So, I have already tried it but it was with powder soap and not Kleen. Thank you for letting me know about this.
