Is to much intake of vitamin C bad for our health?

There are growing numbers of vitamin c products in w/c they (their agents) suggest an intake of megadose of this vitamins. Is it good for the health?

Yes, of course. Any overdose of intake is bad to our health even if it is vitamins. The so called balance nutrition will became imbalance. I read that we should only take vitamin C at most by about 1500 mg per day. If you intake more than that, it will create some complication to some part of your body or organ.

Vitamin c is one of the vitamins that is water soluble. that means that any amount your body can't use will be excreted in your urine. However, if you take a mega dose, it can turn your skin yellowed, and your urine will sting and be very dark

hi judyt00, i am sorry but i really cannot accept your opinion that taking mega dose of vitamin C will "turn your skin yellow and your urine becomes sting(?) and be very dark." i am just curious where in the world did you get this information?

experience. My sis used to overdose on vitamin c all the time, simply because she liked thataste of the tablets, She used to eat it like candy, and soon paid the price, acid urine, and yellowed skin.

Dear Friend, Vitamins are good for our health. But,taking Vitamins too much is harmful.It will make some adverse effects.Vitamin-C is good to increase our immunity. But,overdose will damage our bones. We get enough Vitamins and minerals from our natural foods. If you would like to take more vitamins and minerals,it is better to consult with a doctor.It is not advisable to take more vitamins and minerals without proper consultation.

Overdose of anything hurt even of love... Mankind needs maximum 1,5g of c vitamin,then if your daily ratio is more than that it'll cause a disease.

Taking controlled doses of "Vitamin C" sure is good for health. Excess intake of Vitamin C is cause kidney stones, gastrointestinal disturbances like diarrhea, destruction of Red Blood Cells. I have heard that if you take too much vitamin c whilst taking the contraceptive pill, it could fail to work and you can get pregnant.

actualy though if u takes megadose of vit-c nothing will happen except little bit dyspepsia,actualy the required amount of vit-c gets taken by our body& rest will be excreted throughout our body. so dont worry about megadose dose of vit-c. have u taken 2-3 oranges at a time?...wat was happened at that time?...had u faced any problem ?..hmm answer is nothing happens though u takes excess amount of vit-c as per our body requirement.

anything in excess is harmful. take it in moderation. same with vitamins, like vitamin c.medical findings show that too much vitamin C -500 mg or more may cause- stomach upset and diarrhea. Vitamin C may help reduce the severity and symptoms of colds, but there is no conclusive evidence yet that vitamin C prevents colds. One good source of vitamins are the citrus fruits.
